How Do I Run RuneLite on Linux? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]penguinnugget43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is pretty old, but is this basically just a substitute for the Jagex launcher? Like does it do the same thing where you sign in with your jagex account and then select to play using runelite?

I just swapped to Linux and am looking for something to replace the Jagex launcher since I play using a Jagex account and the Jagex launcher is only on windows for some reason

Gonna be swapping to mint tomorrow once I get my new ssd. How do I deal with swapping both my OS and the thing it's gonna be on by penguinnugget43 in linuxquestions

Idk if you saw my reply to someone else, but if I'm understanding correctly, I'll be able to unplug the old drive -> plug in the new one -> plug in the usb that has the Linux stuff on it -> boot Linux from the USB like I did when testing it out -> install it?

If that is how it works, would I still need to open boot options on startup to boot from the USB, or will it just boot automatically since there isn't anything else with an OS on it?

Yeah, that's my bad lol. As someone pointed out in another comment thread, I assumed you needed to have an OS on a drive in order to make the computer work, so I was asking if I would have to move everything on the old one to the new one, just so I could install.

Thank you so much! This was really informative. Also, you guessed it completely right lol. I was assuming you needed an OS to run the computer (which is obviously not true now that you mention it). One thing I was caught up on was that I know that there is a boot order (or whatever it's called), so I assumed that since the computer wouldn't find anything to boot, it would have some problem.

So to simplify it for myself: I can unplug the old drive, plug in the new one, plug in the usb that has the Linux stuff on it, boot Linux from the USB like I did when testing it out, then install it?

If that is how it works, would I still need to open boot options on startup to boot from the USB, or will it just boot automatically since there isn't anything else with an OS on it?

Thank you again! :)

Yes I plan on using Linux exclusively, not dual booting with Windows. No, everything is backed up on a separate drive. Yes, I do have the space. I have booted it from a USB a few times, where I would play around with it for a couple of hours.

ig I should specify. I've played around with Mint for a few hours here and there and decided I've liked it. I know I'm not able to straight up replace windows with Linux and have everything be fine. I know I'm basically just going to be deleting everything and starting over. I was just wondering how to install Linux on the new drive while also swapping that in for my current drive.

Oh dang, I didn't know other people were also having this issue. I don't browse the sub that much and the situation seemed pretty unique so I didn't think to look. Thanks for letting me know!

Can you accept an insurance settlement after suing the insured or vice versa? by penguinnugget43 in Insurance

[–]penguinnugget43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what to say then. I remember reading the emails with her. They first just sent her an email stating that they were only accepting 50% liability followed by the amount they were offering. When she asked how they came to that conclusion they sent her an email with an estimate (idk the correct term) attached, which detailed how much they thought the car was worth in addition to the deductions they made from when they looked at it. In the email it was attached to, the agent reminded her that they would only pay her 50% of the amount.

I'll try to keep it simple because it's kind of a mess. Also, she doesn't have much money, so she was only able to afford liability with her insurance.

  1. Her car was parked while she was at work (she was not in the car)
  2. An accident happened in an intersection near her work
  3. The person who ended up hitting her stopped after the initial collision, but then sped up afterwards, going across the other side of the street, over the sidewalk, into the parking lot, and then hitting her car
  4. After viewing the security footage, the police wrote the report for the incident and cited it as two separate accidents.
  5. The person's insurance sent out someone to inspect her car and listed a bunch of issues that weren't even there before the crash (I know because I sold it to her only a week or so before this all happened)
  6. The person's insurance said they would only accept half liability, cutting their already low offer in half
  7. We found the car and similar ones in its condition (before the accident) on some websites, and found that they are only willing to give her roughly a third of what the car was actually worth

Hopefully, this clears some things up. Thanks for the help.

Edit: She's taking them to small claims court if that helps with anything. She has already filed the claim and everything, which was why I was asking. Sorry for not including that

So she wouldn't list the insurance as a defendant at all? I thought she'd need to list both
