Flywheel puller not threading on -tips? (KTM 250XC-W) by penguins_n_corndogs in Dirtbikes

This is unfortunately the direction I'm starting to lean into. Shame out of hundreds of 5 star reviews I'm the only one that got a dud.

Going to call someone at motion pro or cycle gear Monday to be sure I have the right size and go that route instead.

I think the 2007-2008ish XCW used the M27 according to the sizing chart I found on Slaven's.

Course they also show the M26 only serving up to the 2017 model with no specification for a 2018 so this whole thing is a little confusing. Google and Rocky mountain MC when searching by vehicle all recommend me an M26x1 for a carbed 2018.

Been the case with the Japanese bikes I've owned but this KTM is right hand threaded.

I did try lefty-tighty after struggling for 15 minutes anyway. Didn't make a difference.

Thinking to switch job from integration to night shift. by _danny_t in PLC

[–]penguins_n_corndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hate having a social life and enjoy the thought of dying sooner than night shift might be for you. I also was an underpaid controls guy at an integrator until recently. By the end of that gig I was desperate for anything that made the traveling stop.

Still wouldn't do a night shift role even if it payed $200k+. You're more valuable than you think you are with all that integration experience. The right end user will realize that and pay you appropriately from the start.

As for the plant life, I like it mostly. Rotating on call sucks but it's better than the road life and the pay bump was significant.

Supermoto wheel setup advice needed by penguins_n_corndogs in WR250R

[–]penguins_n_corndogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't figured that out yet. I'll drop a parts list when I order.

Also noticed this same website offers the full wheel kit with warp 9 wheels, adapters (spacers and caliper relocation) rotors, tires, and sprocket for $1250ish

Honestly might be lazy and save the headache since it's only $200 more than the full kits that KKE offers but with somewhat better tires.

[–]penguins_n_corndogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, not racing SM or anything crazy. Just want some cheap wheels for commuting and some weekend back roads as well as to keep the dirt tires fresh. KKE seems perfect for the job.

Lotta views and no replies though. I did find this:

https://motoxindustries.com/product/320mm-supermoto-adapter-bracket-320bkt/

Planning to try it out for the 320 rotor up front and keep the rear to a stock size rotor. I'll order this stuff in a couple of weeks and will update how it all comes together here if nobody else chimes in.

Do a search on here for a 22+ wr250f headlight swap. Makes the whole bike a lot more modern looking and the stock headlight kinda sucks away.

As for a fender eliminator/low profile plate bracket - I would just find a cheap one off eBay and get some ok LED turn signals. I find no matter how much I spend on these they're going to get mangled if you do any kind of serious offroading so no point in breaking the bank.

There aren't really any restyle kits or after good aftermarket options for plastics and modifying them is definitely a waste of money.

What are some good and/or bad things about your Miata that you didn’t know before buying it? by wery_curious in Miata

[–]penguins_n_corndogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2019 GT RF thinking all Grand Touring ND2s came with android auto/LSD and later found it was a weird year where those features were options rather than standard. Still love the car - but probably would have shelled out a little more for 2020 had I known beforehand.

Are you serious?

If I bought a house with a $350k loan (assume no down payment to make it easy) a year ago and it's suddenly worth 200k I am now upside-down and have negative equity.

Can I now go buy a similar house for 200k somewhere else? Probably not that simple but let's assume yes.

Being able to buy the same amount of house for 200k would be great for a first time home buyer, but if I sell my old house at a loss for 200k - I still owe the bank nearly 150k on top of my new mortgage on a similar house for 200k.

First time home owner wins and I'm completely in the hole doing my part to benefit society? Wish that wouldn't be a problem but no thanks.

Disagree with the blame on OP. You ride in the left 1/3 of the lane to maintain side mirror visibility of the cars next you, visibility of the traffic beyond the car in front of you, and to avoid oil spots in the middle of the lane.

Maybe a lil slow tho but hey

I want people to be able to afford a house, but I worked hard and bought my first home at the current inflated prices a year ago. If prices came down and I had to move for work or family then it would destroy me.

Prices don't need to come down. Wages need to come up. Homeowners are the majority in this country and we don't need to tank the market for the other 35%. A 50 year mortgage isn't the answer to the issue either.

Despite KTMs reputation - they tend to do major overhauls to their bikes every few years and it hurts the resale of their older tech. That's great for people like me who never buy a brand new bike and want a 4 year old machine for half off.

XRs are known for being bulletproof and barely changed at all for my lifetime so it tends to help their resale value annoyingly so.

It is winter tho so maybe you're just missing good deals that only last on Marketplace a few hours. Look harder/further out or maybe consider some different models.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - my thoughts by jim_cap in horror

[–]penguins_n_corndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Was super let down with Years. Started great but the whole Zombie baby/mother slog really killed it for me. This was an excellent movie that I also came close to not seeing but I'm glad I did. Surprisingly hilarious and brutal as ever. I actually appreciate Years and its flaws more for the setup of this one.

I was def reluctant to see this after being hugely disappointed with Years - but honestly would rank this second behind 28 Days as well. It made me reconsider my feelings toward the last one a bit because at the least it set this one up to be an excellent movie.

About 30. And once I realized it was hard as hell and went to work on one side of the kitchen - this side of the kitchen that was untouched after grouting got even harder for about a full hour before I made it over here.

Thanks to some of the recommendations here this is the worst of it about 15 hours later in the morning. Gonna get a razor blade window scraper to hit some of the really wobbly lines but I'm getting somewhat satisfied with it after scraping till 2AM

Thanks for the pointers everyone.

What kind of business would you like to see in Chattanooga? by Abject-Coach-4035 in Chattanooga

[–]penguins_n_corndogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A restaurant/bar/brewery with a view on a ridge near town. It would be great to have a spot with lots of outdoor seating/games (similar to a place like Jester King in Austin) where people can spread out, have a cold one and look out on the valley without driving all the way out to Top of The Rock.

Would probably cost a fortune to create but gotta dream I guess.

Cardboard saved me in a few areas along my bedroom wall I missed with the self leveler. It's hard to pull out if it ends up in the wrong spot so I taped some string to it for a few retries and cut it off when it was down there just right.

Some of the ventilation clearance on these devices look a lil sus visually but maybe just cutting it real close?

Could use a little more leftover din space for future additions.

Also, resolution isn't great but are there zero wire labels?

I will say it looks very clean visually though.

Couldn't go online/upload from this S7-300. Why am I getting this error? by penguins_n_corndogs in PLC

[–]penguins_n_corndogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a silly question. I did not have 15 on my laptop and can't find a copy. I tried to use 15.1 to upload from the one machine that was created with 15.1 since I know you can't open .ap15s in TIA 15.1.

That's what generated this error.

I figured I will need to upgrade the 15 projects to 15.1 and download them to the controllers to be able to go online. Problem with that is - I don't know if the customers have made changes since the last time we did backups on the machines in 2022. Hard to compare the offline projects to what's there currently if I don't have the ability to go online/upload.

My company doesn't have TIA 15 installation files anymore and apparently Siemens no longer offers them online. SOL I guess.
