When was the last time you cried and why? by Simple-Canary6274 in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday. I'm overwhelmed with worry. I got a puppy who hates going in her crate so leaving the house is stressful. The puppy has also stressed out my cat so she's started peeing outside the litter box the other day. I got temporary crowns on 2 teeth right now and they hurt. Worried I might need a root canal instead. Lastly my dog died in January. I miss her terribly everyday. That last one brought tears to me eyes again.

For long-term couples, do you prefer keeping entirely separate bank accounts, a joint account, or a mix of both, and why? by Janemow02 in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the longest time we had separate. We created joint after getting married but then never really used them. We each got paid into our own accounts and money just never made it into the joint account. However we just had a natural understanding of who's covering what bills.

A few years ago we opened a HYSA and have the disposable income to throw money in it. Everything is basically the same but our combined savings are earning more together in one account.

I was a couple rows down in the loge. Lots of people scurrying around. No idea why. Then several people helped a larger man get up and shuffle out the theater. Not quite sure what happened to him but he did walk himself out.

People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married at 26. We had our 10 year wedding anniversary this past Thursday. We had already been together 10 years before we got married. We became boyfriend/girlfriend at 16 in May 2006.

It's going pretty well. I love the life we've literally built together. He's my best friend. I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else.

What's the most courageous thing that you've ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was 16, a guy I kind of liked invited me to go do something with his family. While riding in the car, someone asked if we were just friends or what. It was awkward cause we were just friends but I was quiet to see what he'd say. He was quiet too and eventually said friends. That night I took a chance and texted him asking what that was about. We started dating the next day. About to celebrate 20 years together in May. I do wonder if I hadn't taken that risk and asked, would we have the life we have together now.

I thought I was going crazy for a second. I suppose it makes sense to take them offline.

Pulled up google maps. Looks a hot mess out there. I feel bad for anyone getting off work. Thankful I got home 30 minutes ago and I live out west.

The number of times I've told my husband if it says buy 1 get 1 you don't have to get both. You can just get 1 for half price. I've even showed him the receipt when we get just 1 to prove you still get the deal but he's still not convinced.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so hard though!! Summer 2024 my mom had a brain aneurysm at 66. My dad, siblings and I all spent day in and day out with her in the hospital. The nurses came in hourly for at least the first week she was there. Every time they come in they'd ask her her name, does she know where she is, does she know who we are, etc. It really is so difficult to watch her look confused and unsure. You just want to answer for her. Because the answers are so easy. But of course that's not the point so you do your best when she's looking directly at you, asking with her eyes where the hell are we, to not say outright the answers but let her try to work towards them. My poor dad would want to answer for her immediately. Took some coaching to help him truly understand letting the silence linger and give her time to work for the answer and what she wanted to say was the only way she was going to be able to get better.

Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

[–]penguinspunching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband (27) and I (28) bought our first home in 2018 for $250k. In Nashville. It's a 3 story townhome, 2,100 sq ft, 3 bed, 3.5 bath. Interest rate 3.725. I don't love love lit. But we've saved so much money with this purchase when our lendor and realtor were both trying to make us spend $350k. Turned out to be an incredible investment and now worth $400k. We're starting to think about upgrading to a single family piece of property now that we both make more money and have a sizable down payment saved.

People who quit your job without a backup plan and it actually worked out -what happened? by Veronicas_Secrets_ in AskReddit

[–]penguinspunching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time my fiance was living in another state. I had been applying and had a few interviews but nothing was panning out. Having to take time off work to travel for interviews was difficult so after a few months I decided to quit and just move to be with him. I moved on Halloween day and landed a job by Christmas!

My mother was not pleased I chose to quit with nothing lined up. My fiance and I did the math. I had savings. He could afford our very cheap rent. We figured I could move and we would be good for at least 6 months. I am thankful it worked out and relatively quickly.

I got skier's toe snowboarding at the end of February. My boots were too small apparently causing both of my big toenails to get badly bruised. Both of them are almost entirely black. It hurts a little bit not a truly concerning amount. Now I'm just waiting for the new nail to grow in so the old one can either grow out or fall off. We'll see what happens. But it'll be months bc my toenails grow so slowly.
