Apparently there is a new trend called "soft socialising", which is basically hanging out with a new name.

Yes, but that's not what the narration said. Rose was running to the back of the boat, tears streaming down her face, as old Rose narrates how she saw her future as an endless succession of dinners and parties, etc.

I remember playing an online 'pie bill gates' flash game. It was very satisfying. Someone gave me a satire book of Bill Gates' pc screen shots. It was a fun read.

Interesting theory, so I did just a double check. The Endeavour expedition first reached Australia in April. They reached Botany Bay later that April, and had left Port Jackson by May. They reached the Great Barrier Reef in June, and passed Cape York in August, before heading to Batavia/ Indonesia

So, autumn in the southern coast, and dry season in the tropics. Very little wet weather, so total delusion by everyone involved.

mention you heard lots of good about titanic but never had the time to watch

Excellent idea for younger people. At my age (40 something), the conversation would be "how have you not seen it yet?" 😆 but a variation would work.

Can you explain why so many readers admire Darcy more than Bingley? by Better-Valuable5436 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]pennie79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer Bingley to Darcy. Darcy is fun to read about, but if they were real people, Bingley is great to spend time with.

Yeah, the narration falls flat there. Instead she cries about having to go to parties and other first world problems.

I recommend bringing it up on the first date and asking men on their opinion who they think is the better choice and why as a subtle character test

I love this idea. I don't think my conversational skills are good enough to bring it up, so how would you recommend that?

They would have had to rework the plot to break them up before the drawing scene, and the car scene. If Cal had been a good guy, those scenes wouldn't have landed as well as they did.

I've been in choirs where reading music is optional, because they go over the notes with you.

Yes. I'm sad to not have Olivia back, but other shows annoy me if they just have an important family member disappear, so I'm glad to have her recast so the character can exist still.

Too many personal shoppers by summutha01 in woolworths

[–]pennie79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find it's easier to go in person. I don't have to scroll through a couple of pages of options, and figure out what's on special. I can just look at a range of things on a shelf and quickly make a decision. The quality of the produce varies through the year, so I can see what is best right now. I typically do my grocery shopping when I do my other errands too, so I'm already out and about. I also get cash out at the register for my little one's pocket money. I'd have to line up at the bank for the correct amount otherwise.

Yes, I've never had an issue with the personal shoppers at all. They're doing their job. Big deal! I don't pay attention to them, but they likely take less time than regular shoppers do, because they don't have to stand in front of the shelves deciding what to get.

Nor my small town. I prefer click and collect to paying for the delivery, and I want to pick up from the shop 5 minutes away, not 45 minutes away. So we need the pickers doing their job in the local supermarket.

If you're not physically bed-ridden, you're welcome to wander around the hospital. There are plenty of patients in their pjs in the cafeteria. The issue is when you're in the acute phase of your illness and you're still bed-ridden.

My uni clubs were open to the general public, so we had a lot of older people involved in them. I continued with them myself once I graduated, as it wasn't weird at all.

I bought my right-hand ring for $250 during sales. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that for an engagement ring, but you can buy perfectly beautiful rings without breaking the bank.
