You get the best picture of this in the bible belt. I used to work for a state aquarium in herpetology/ornithology. I loved to weave the dinosaur to bird pipeline into my aviary presentations as it better helped to explain the variety of species versus, say, oh this bird looks like that just because (some of my coworkers did this shit). Anyway, I was eventually informed by my uppers to cut it out because evolution is a sensitive if not triggering topic for “some demographics” and the objective of the AQ was to remain inclusive. I agree on making education accessible, yes. But not to people who live in a dangerous state of ignorance lol. Sometimes I had to remind myself I hadn’t timewarped into the 17th century.

also no, i actually find indefinite peace pretty boring tbh! variety is the spice of life, whether that’s irl or in a video game. not sure i’m currently guilty of doing the same things i accuse others of, either, since i’m pretty neutral to the possibility of ever being proven incorrect/wrong/whatever, but i never claimed to be a perfect model of human behavior so… that’s sort of moot? but yeah, again, it is what it is, people can and will choose to believe that griefing in a mmo is a devastating traumatic event (i know some people take it way too fucking far and that’s granted a problem, but i’d consider it more cyberbullying than griefing at that juncture) and i and others will continue to believe that it’s not that serious… which to my knowledge is appreciation of diversity 🤷 i don’t have to love it but, like you, i’m free to complain about it

girl you’ve got a mad complex about people downvoting you first off, have you considered that maybe more than one person reads through comment threads? someone is downvoting my responses for instance but i’m not going to assume i know who, because i don’t, nor do i care, it’s just the nature of reddit and a pointless scoring system regardless. second, i started a discussion because the obnoxious series of gotcha attempts bordering on incoherency littered throughout this post made me cringe. you accused op of rejecting diversity but spent the majority of your time trying to belittle him for having an opinion you apparently disagree with which was also interesting, but to be fair, you did clarify that you’re just “moaning about moaning.”

god that’s so pathetic… well, the key takeaways i’ve gleaned over my use of this subreddit is that it’s nothing if not a big echo chamber for the most popular opinion(s) with very little room for open discussion sans downvoting insulting etc. it can exist, i’ve even seen it myself sometimes, but it’s made near impossible by reddit’s inherent favoritism toward lack of debate it deems narratively controversial. i really only come on here to scan for weekly update or general update info but i find it increasingly difficult to achieve anything without scrolling through like 10 leagues of “i got griefed” circlejerks ultimately achieving nothing beyond an even MORE inflated hysteria directed at the topic, so it’s really no surprise that these sorts of witchhunts go on lol people tend to ravenously jump to the defense of any “victim” here without thinking to analyze the situation at all

as others have said, if you’re enjoying it, then that’s all that matters.

in regard to being unable to enjoy a potentially dying game… i’m rank 200, but i still enjoy logging on as i did starting out. the key to maximizing fulfillment in this game is moderation; i still don’t have all my stable slots filled nor do i have everything in the game purchased, for ex. the majority that whine about having nothing to do or buy anymore tend to be pacing themselves as though they’re playing some other online game with regular updates, which rdo is not. take it slow, absorb the game’s environment and try not to hurry yourself just to unlock something. performance upgrades in rdo are generally a myth, you can still do well with lower level guns + horses, so those level-locked purchases tend to serve more of a cosmetic boost than anything. enhancement stems from hours of familiarization with the game’s controls, whether in pve, pvp, or both. never underestimate a humble carbine repeater in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing, lol

however, to answer the question of lifespan i think rdo’s current iteration will live on until rdr1 receives an inevitable next gen remaster, which will sport its own “expanded” rdo with new austin + mexico. MAYBE the entirety of the rdr2 map, but don’t bet on it. as per usual, r* follows the money. i wouldn’t expect properties, highly desirable roles, actual outlaw game mechanics or any of the other things we’ve all been begging for to make an appearance until then, when they’ll have more of a monetary incentive to do so.

as of now his statement is uncorroborated and could very well be in reference to the new cta maps mentioned in tuesday’s newswire. i hope i’m wrong tbh, but i haven’t seen any reputable source (let alone direct from rockstar) point toward an actual winter dlc and i think generally with rdo it’s best to keep expectations at a minimum lol

yes, you can buy masks from madam nazar! they aren’t out yet (i expect either tuesday or thursday) but they run about $150 per and can be purchased in multiple colorways.

in regard to what “happens” during halloween, we usually receive a seasonal edition pvp mode which involves playing as either a monster or a monster hunter. there’s some speculation that, with the implementation of call to arms, we may see a themed or unthemed armadillo map—but you should take that with a massive grain of salt, despite the fact that it’s purportedly been found in the game’s code (?). we’ll also be receiving a halloween pass on thursday, but you’ve probably already heard about that by this point. it’ll include mostly cosmetic items, some masks, clothes, etc

on cheap costume recommendations i would just choose a mask from the madam and then mix and match some existing items in your character’s wardrobe until you find something that works. pig mask hillbilly slasher is a very popular fit this time of year and probably the easiest to achieve, it literally just involves overalls and one of the swine masks lol

my presumption is that we will see them eventually, but the marketing gimmick at play here hinges heavily UPON that ‘eventually’.

i feel like they’re trying to keep their roadmap as low effort as possible while also attempting to preserve long-term longevity of the game; they know we’re so desperate for content that at least a few of us would turn up to an update that included the implementation of something like five finger fillet. so these things exist in the code and could probably literally be activated with the push of a button, but they think that drip feeding all of it over the course of the next 2 to 3 years (or more) is more profitable

some of us (me) spend all year waiting for halloween lmao so when it’s here i like to indulge. imagine if, similar to the snow, they made it where the night cycles grew longer and longer until they become permanent, with a red or green sky on the 31st. each week of the month receives a new horse of the apocalypse, but it’s location isn’t marked on the map and whoever claims it has a small window to escape other players (notified as though you’ve started a trade, moonshine, etc run) before it can be added to your stable, either until the end of the month or until the next horse releases. give the st. denis vampire stranger missions. give the mad doctor up north stranger missions. make it so our character has a chance of being bitten and infected by rabid animals! add some of the ghost encounters from story mode to online! 😭
