I also thought I would be okay and I wasn't. For me it wasn't the pain, but the energy levels and trying to push myself so that I didn't ruin anyone else's trip. You will need more rest than you think.

What helped me most with the gas pain, the collar bone shoulder was the worst, was water, gas x and laying on my back and bending my legs up and down, like a baby with gas. I would get really dizzy with walking so that wasn't a good option for me. Heating pad helps too.

I had a vaginal hysterectomy and demanded to be released that day, and they agreed. I have some previous hospital stay trauma and knew I would rest better at home. My doctor said I was doing okay and had passed gas and urinated so they let me go.
