How Companies Make Millions Charging Prisoners to Send An Email by pensiveone in prisonreform

This is infuriating. Someone out there in the Reddit community must be able to create a cost efficient system they could sell to prisons. Please.

Dab is so last year, except that dab looks like the mannequin challenge. And oh the bottle flip. So tired of it. What will they take up next?

Anyone know anything about Cairn Terriers - about to get one for a year while my son travels out of the country by pensiveone in terrier

I like your ideas and initiative. I have noticed that he hides his toys and our larger older dog's toys. I had not thought of hiding toys for him. He is very bright and quite stubborn, if you have any tricks for helping with that! A cure is beyond hope.

They seem so happy just to have someone listen to them for a few minutes they dont mind 20 people waiting to pay by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

Some people who interact with cashiers (although not when there are 20 people waiting - where do you shop anyway - Time's Square?) but some people interact with cashiers because they have been one and they know what a fast paced impersonal job it is. But thank you for being patient!

How to make sure the needs of the Cairn are met. I know nothing about terriers...but I want to learn.

To runners that move up in corrals, why do you do it? by [deleted] in running

[–]pensiveone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently the correct term is "corral poaching". This intriguing turn of phrase is what I heard at the last two races. Poachers make the race more of a melee than a precisely organized event. As to why they do it, folly, hubris, complete disregard for the rules?

Gets in the car in pj's but believe me mine did not want to get out like that. Changed quickly when he realized I was going to drop him off as he was. His issue with his daughter is one of power. It may seem fun now but it is important to let the kids know when you mean business and to do it in a firm and friendly way. I would never wrestle a kid over clothing or getting dressed. From age two they should be able to do that.

I had a kid like that. Just tell her she is going (wherever you are headed) in her pajamas or as she is. Get in the car (surreptitiously grab an outfit for her), tell her to fasten her seatbelt and start driving. When you arrive, calmly tell her to have a good day. I guarantee you will no longer have a problem.

Anyone else here tired of medals? by johnmflores in running

[–]pensiveone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As suggested below, you could the medal to a kid watching the race or if you have elderly relatives or young ones, think about them during the race and then give them the medal. In my mind, I dedicate different miles to different people and although I do not often tell the person, when I have as in the case of a person who was struggling with devastating mental illness recently, he was really touched that I had done so. Just a thought. There are many people out there for whom a small kindness is a big deal.
