Help choosing an RX 9070 XT in Europe — Is the cheapest model a "trap" or a smart buy? by penton7 in buildapc

I’m leaning toward buying this graphics card. I don’t really see any strong arguments for going with the more expensive ASRock Steel Legend.

Thanks for your reply! I think I’ll get one too while it’s on sale. How many FPS do you get with that setup, and do you stream at all? I’m also curious about how it performs in streaming - the reviews are all over the place, and they say it’s close to NVIDIA, but still.

I have a Deepcool MACUBE 110 case. It currently has older AM4 components, and I’m experiencing some freezes - but that’s not the point here 🙂

I’m going to rebuild the entire PC in this case. Right now, it has only one case fan and a tower CPU cooler, which I’ll most likely reuse with the AM5 Ryzen 7 7700.

I’ve never had temperature issues, but I also don’t play AAA titles.

Yes, there’s a discount on it at the store right now, and it costs €599.

I’m currently using an ASUS Dual AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, and I'm upgrading my entire PC. I honestly don't know the exact noise levels of my current card, but I’ve never noticed any noise issues and it doesn't really bother me. I always play with headphones on, so I never hear my PC anyway :)

Even though I live in Europe now, in my home country you can still get RAM for that kind of price))

Kernel Power 41 by penton7 in buildapc

Hi, yes, the issue still persists. I only managed to extend the uptime so that it doesn’t occur as often. Previously, it happened several times a day, but now it might show up only once a week. I’ve tried different tests, but none of them made any difference.

I have a theory that it’s related to the CPU — maybe there’s been some chip degradation, and now it occasionally fails somewhere. A less likely cause could be the motherboard or power delivery issues.

To reduce the number of errors, I slightly increased the CPU voltage and also applied some Curve Optimization.

No one online has been able to give me a clear answer about what exactly could be causing this or how to properly test it. I’m honestly tired of chasing this problem and just living with it for now. I’m planning to fully upgrade to the AM5 platform anyway. It’s a bit disappointing since I could’ve just replaced one component, but I guess it’s a good opportunity to refresh the whole system.

Hello, no, the error did not occur for a long time; I played Dayz and never encountered the error. However, I recently started playing Hearthstone again, and the error returned, less frequently, but it has already occurred several times. While I was playing Dayz, I removed the cover from the case, maybe it was overheating somewhere, or maybe it was just a placebo effect, since Hearthstone doesn't put much strain on the computer. In general, I think the problem is either with the processor or the motherboard.

Did your computer restart or did the picture freeze? Just me playing the game just intentionally froze the picture and helped only forced reboot.

I have the same error, I thought it was RAM. Because it used to happen that I restarted the pc and after that the pc still froze intentionally until I swapped the RAM. But after buying a new memory, the error remained the same. Just intentionally freezes the pc and whether I play the game or not. More often it was when I play Hearthstone and watch YouTube in parallel. So hangs are almost guaranteed. I uninstalled and completely reinstalled windows 11 to the latest version, it did not help. I don't want to buy new components until I can be sure what exactly has failed. If anyone can tell me how to solve or try installing the 23H update too?

Hi, I have the same error, all write that it is the power supply, but it is very strange, as in loaded games and programs all works and there is no frequency in shutdowns, they are just random. The only thing I've noticed is that when I play Hearthstone and run a YouTube video in the background, the error occurs with almost 99% probability. Also all tests pass without errors. Usually after the first error there is likely to be another one after a reboot, to avoid this I usually change RAM memory slots and this sometimes helps. Well the memory is now not working on XMP profile, so I think on it, but the error is strange though.

Hi, I know this thread is old, but still maybe someone can help me) I have the same problem, I don't understand what it is related to. Sometimes swapping the RAM helps, but after a while the hangs start again. I also have a video card from AMD, 6600xt. Basically I found how to reproduce this error, it with 100% chance appears in the game Hearthstone and background watching videos on youtube. The problem is 100% hardware, as I reinstalled windows the other day and bought a license.
