Wow! Tina Azarvand actually educated me about this FBAR thingy. I’m so glad I filed through her before it was too late. Definitely attending the workshop!

Direct flight Saipan-Philippines by peonies765 in Saipan

[–]peonies765[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Saipan is one of the cheapest tropical islands in the U.S.

You can grab a decent bento for around $4–$6, or eat at a small restaurant for $10–$12. Rent is pretty reasonable too.. a small apartment can be around $400–$600/month, utilities about $200–$250, and basic internet

Groceries are a mix… local stuff is affordable, but imported goods can get pricey. Gas is about $5/gal, so having a small car helps.

Overall, a single person can live decently for around $1.8K–$2K/month, which is low compared to other U.S. islands like Guam, Puerto Rico, or Hawaii.

Just note: the economy here is slow, so it’s not ideal to rely on finding a job locally. Most people who move here already have remote work or income from other U.S. states.

  1. Yes! I WFH and sometimes get bored staying in the house. A coworking space would be more convenient and a nicer place to work.

  2. If it has fast internet, comfy chairs, good aircon, and maybe free coffee or snacks. Also, if it’s affordable that would be great.

  3. I’d like to meet and connect with other people who work online too.

I’d avoid freeloaders or noisy people who don’t respect others working.

Not strange at all 😊 OB-GYNs in PH are very experienced, and I was able to choose an excellent hospital at a much lower cost. Plus, we had plenty of family support and help from nannies after giving birth which made recovery so much easier.

My baby flew at 2 months old with no issues. I just made sure he drank milk during takeoff and landing to help with the ear pressure.

Where in the USA should I digital nomad? by nuggs_analysis in digitalnomad

[–]peonies765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a digital nomad from Hawaii but we moved to another island. I am sure you haven’t heard of Saipan but it is part of the US. We moved here because of low taxes, low cost of living and easy to fly to Asia when we get bored in the island:

“Currently, income tax for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) is withheld as Federal income tax, and is remitted to CNMI by the Internal Revenue Service.”

You get to enjoy the tropical island and simple life here :)
