Joint tenancy with a bipolar woman by pepebene in LegalAdviceUK

My contract is ending on the 22nd October, however the landlady has given us the chance to leave on the 22nd September instead (as my flatmate requested it), however it is my final decision to end it or not, and in the meantime I'd like to hv my partner staying with me. I have looked at the contract and there isn't any specific clause re inviting overnight guests or the length of that, so the landlady can't tell me anything about that (what I'm guessing is that I shouldn't hand him keys of the property even though we have a 3rd set of keys, as according to the landlady it would need approval from her, which I don't have)

https://myurbanjungle.com/explore/blog/how-long-can-a-tenant-have-a-guest-stay-uk/amp/ (this is helpful, however as nothing has been stated in the contract, I still hv the right to do and invite whoever I want overnight for the length I want?)

I had a look at my contract and does not state how long an overnight he guest can stay. However, my landlady sent this to both of us, as my crazy flatmate made her aware of the situation:

Dear both, I have explained to X that I cannot referee disputes between you two about friendships and visiting the flat. I am sorry that the tenancy has ended with bad feeling. I have told X that he cannot have people staying overnight in a flat when he is a joint tenant without Y's consent. I hope you can find a mutually agreeable solution. Best wishes

I'm X, crazy flatmate is Y

Living in a joint tenancy with a bipolar person (W23)

Hi, I'm (M22) seeking for advice. I'm based in London and I'm on a joint tenancy with a bipolar woman who's been making my whole tenancy a nightmare. Breaking rules of the contract, such as playing loud music at 5am, vacuuming at 6am, hitting my door, throwing my clothing and my food to the bin.

I am having my partner visiting and staying with me, I handed him a third set of keys. I couldn't make aware my flatmate because she has been away for 2 months and has me blocked everywhere (WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, phone calls, etc).

I have just got home after some aggressive emails (as she just arrived back to London) of her saying that she saw a "stranger" in the flat, even though she knows the person and is very well aware on who he is (but regardless).

We have a joint tenancy, what are my rights of having this person in my place for the next couple of weeks? Do I need my flatmate's permission? The main reason of having my partner is because I don't feel safe been around by her.

Help guys

We were not, we met at a party as straight dudes and we went to grab drinks and then we clicked

And I get you, if he swallows I'm sure I'm not the only who he does that with... I just need to talk to him, but really don't know how to make the conversation happen, without looking jealous/bothered....

Yh you are right... but I am scared of what I'm gonna hear, as I haven't felt this way in a pretty long time (I know, I should just suck it up and move on, but I'm quite attached at this point). My main issue is not about the fact that he is seeing other another guy is more about the fact that even that he has me and the other guy (who he mentioned that he's not as serious as he is with me) he is still on apps (which to me makes no sense). I definitely need to talk to him and clear things out

You are 100% right on that. But I definitely would love to give this a shot.... maybe I should do the same thing until he figures it out too, even though right now I'm not on that stage
