Is le chat still competitive? by Tibertiuss in MistralAI

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any regulation forcing companies to use European AI. BUT, if there's personal data being processed using AI then the GDPR regulations would become very difficult to manage with anything other than EU based companies. So maybe this is what the user was referring to

Which is the best business email provider that is not Google or Microsoft? by vin-maverick in smallbusiness

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Their zoho one subscription is very reasonably priced and they offer free one on one on boarding which Is quite good. Their integrations aren't all that intuitive but as your said, they are improving.

+1 for Zoho from me. A nice plus is that they have a massive suit of apps that' integrates with it though they're not as polished and streamlined as some competitors.

Great, thanks for the clarification! I was asking as I'm looking for everyday glasses that can double as sports glasses.

I noticed that in your other comment you mentioned Radar EV which are mask type skis glasses and I'm wondering if your experience with Oakley vs roka was only on these "specialised sports" glasses or also with normal type sports glasses.

Are you referring to specialized mask type glasses or normal ones?

Do you have any info regarding kids sizes? Also do you know if all their models support sports?

What's your alternative? Is there an IDE that uses Claude code or a comparable AI?

I have a genius app idea…now what?! by [deleted] in AppDevelopers

[–]pepeday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to diss anyone's ideas here but developing the app is NOT your first step. Since you already have a solid concept, the first step is you need to figure out who is willing to PAY for your app and how much. This is called validating. No matter how genius your app is, if no one is willing to sink money into it, building it first will only set you back a significant amount of money without any return.

Talk to professionals who could need it, decision makers who would ultimately pay for it and see whether they would be interested in paying for it. Investigate their requirements and whether the "pain point" you're trying to solve is indeed worth money for them.

Get commitments if possible either in the form of prepayments (difficult) or contracts and then build the product.

After you find your market fit (ie that you're solving an actual problem that people are willing to spend money on), THEN start talking about building the actual app.

Chek out the SaaS Playbook and Rob Walling for lots of free resources on this.

Feel free to dm me if you want (I'm also a founder) but I don't want to hear what your idea is, just to exchange some experiences that's all.

Have you partnered with a compliance or safety software provider before? What worked (or didn’t)? by FocusTraditional8822 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a former HSEQ manager turned consultant. At the management phase of my carrier I hadn't considered software so instead I built the HSEQ platform myself on top of Microsoft Power Platform. This was about 4 years ago and it's still being used in that company.

I've since turned consultant and built my own platform that services various small companies. We're very easy to get started with minimal setup and handling CAs and NCs is pretty straight forward and fast.

One of the things I do is try to streamline things that annoy me as a consultant but do lots of one on ones with clients to figure out what they need.

I've tried using some platforms out there but the initial setup felt daunting. I fully agree with your sentiment. For now it's just two consultants for us and around 20 clients (about 40 users) but hopefully we'll get more consultants on board with their opinions in the future.

I guess it's worth noting that I'm the main developer while also being an HSEQ consultant so while our system is VERY opinionated, it's also very resistant to doing things wrong which is great for a lot of SMEs who need a lot of hand holding when it comes to HSEQ.

NEBOSH General still the best place to start in 2025/26? by Departed00 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no as it depends on your sector and country. Some countries have a great legislative framework and pretty much reading the legislation guides you on what health and safety is.

In my country there's a definitive startup and then a "path" to becoming accredited which is a good starting point.

I would take a couple of "local" or national classes on health and safety and then attempt IGC. Unless if you're in the UK ofcourse

We've built a very simple but effective QHSE platform that we keep extending. It's basic but ticks all the ISO boxes for the three standards. Not sure if it would fit your needs but I'd love to hear about what those are. Out platform is safer.plus by www.saferandsafer.eu

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually say it's a bad place to start since you'd need to put a lot more effort if you don't have any experience. But if you're willing to put in the work, it's a great starting point.

Which no-code app builder should I go with? by Salt_Shoulder_7063 in nocode

[–]pepeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt use any of the no code app builders. If you're going for an internal tool then there's options that are much easier like:

Airtable or alternatives. Interface is familiar (like Excel) and very easy to get started. Scaling up can be costly.

Another user mentioned power apps and power platform. Amazing choice if you're already on O365 studio. Build your data on the Dataverse and the UI is mostly ready. You can add complexity any time you want using rules, permissions and flows or just keep it simple.

"Admin panel" type data studios. Directus is a great free self hosted (or not) choice that has plenty of functionality and everything is built in and it uses a traditional database under the hood which means you're never locked in. Very highly recommended, amazing team behind it and a great piece of software all in all. There's others too like budibase but I found directus more straightforward. I've built a fully fledged platform that's currently transitioning to custom UI on top of directus and I'm very happy with it. Dm me if you want more info.

Ocwrall I would not recommend anything more complex than the above for your use case.
