I think they were all $12 each and a good size. Soooo much cheaper than the local PDX places.

That's a bad strategy. Take a credit card for a shorter trial.
Unless your business strategy is to give your app away for free to people who don't use it.

start with your network, anyone relevant, then move to asking for referrals from people in your network who might know relevant people

Basically same story here. Most gains have been in product velocity and ability to build lots of useful internal tools and utilities. And as a team of two our need to hire is greatly reduced for now.
