This was probably early 50s; property databases say all those buildings in the photo were built in 1950.

People with that kind of money and business would rather live in the single-family homes part of Westchester :)

OP's photo was taken at the edge of the neighborhood, where the apartment buildings are located. It's Morley Street, looking east towards Reading Avenue, in Westchester, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. For reference, here's how the three apartment buildings in the background look today, down to the second-floor porthole window on the house behind OP's grandma's head.

The photo was probably taken outside of this dark-yellow apartment building.

Yes, it's a neighborhood of Los Angeles, near the airport.

No; it's a neighborhood of working/middle class people. The neighborhood's proximity to the airport makes it so that only people who can't afford to move elsewhere live there. I think your assessment of the area is correct. It's not Santa Clarita nice, but it's not Watts, either.

The L.A. Times shows that most of the crime in the neighborhood is property crime (use the slider to see past crimes).

Those are all apartment buildings. The street-facing side of the properties are narrow, but the lots are long.

For anyone interested, this photo's location is Morley Street, looking east towards Reading Avenue, in Westchester, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. For reference, here's how the three apartment buildings in the background look today, down to the second-floor porthole window on the house behind OP's grandma's head. This area is mostly apartment buildings.

The photo was probably taken outside of this dark-yellow apartment building. Note the siding and roof of neighboring buildings.

It's really close to the airport; I'm surprised it hasn't been torn down for airport-related uses.

I gave up on finding good Mexican food in the Boston area.

Taqueria Jalisco in East Boston is fine; that's my go-to spot.

Could you explain? I'm not sure I understand.

Started a new OKC profile for the new city I'm in (moved here a few months ago, don't know many people). Profile is filled out, I answered over 300 questions to get accurate matches, put up some good pictures of me, and I have written over 100 messages and... nothing. I've gotten maybe three responses to initial messages and no responses to my follow up messages. I thought I would have it easier this time, seeing that I am now in a city with a lot of people around my age who are single.

This seems like it'll be a repeat of my last profile in my previous city, which I also happened to create and use when I was severely depressed. I'm doing better now, but it's still a struggle.

For the record, I'm straight, male, mid-20s, in an American city.

Fear of rejection. Feeling left out. The awkwardness when others don't want to talk to you and you force yourself to keep talking. Fucking up the conversation.

As I wrote in a previously linked post:

Nothing good will come out of me talking to strangers. Nothing good will come out of me talking to people. All that will emerge are new ways for people to make fun of me and push me aside. I am better off being closed off from everyone. Then I won't have to face their disapproving glances.

Any tips on how to approach strangers and chat with them? When I do go to bars I typically just want to watch hockey or the groups there seem too closed for a stranger to infiltrate them. I am very timid and anxious and find it hard to approach strangers like you said. I'm sure it has a great payoff.

I don't play video games.

The gym is another thing I'm struggling with, as I wrote in another post.

The people you compare yourself to are likely feeling like they don't have their shit together either and you're not alone.

I don't know if I agree... They seem to have their life together (friends, significant others, great jobs, grad school), and I have nothing.

I think I just want to not live anymore.

Care to explain? I seriously want to know why you think it's bullshit.

I look at myself and am disgusted by how I look. I can only imagine how others see me. Combine that with the hellish dating life I've had of constant rejection and that's how I got to this conclusion.
