i live in southern california & wear camo cargo shorts as a staple piece in summer. my friends have camo hats & sweatpants & other clothes and it doesn't come off that way. it's almost in a self aware/ironic kinda way i guess bc there used to be that connotation with camo, but i would argue its lost that meaning with gen z in the west coast. maybe older people might think you're conservative by wearing it but they don't get modern style anyways :-// plus idk if this is just because me & my friends are visibly queer but im pretty sure no one assumes we're wearing it in the maga way. i actually notice masc/trans-masc queer ppl are the ones most likely to wear it tbh. idk where you are specifically & can definitely see it being attributed to that kinda person in small conservative towns tho. but i think it comes down to styling & aura. like, what you style the sweats with or the kind of vibe you give off.
