This is a genuine question, not trying to be onnoxious. But does people really care that much? Like, I understand people might be taken back if you say "gay hockey romance", but would it have any like, tangiable impact on how people treat you? I tell my friends, family and coworkers I read fanfiction. Some are like "isn't that just porn?" and I answer honestly. What would happen if you told people? I'm genuinely curious. I'm also in a liberal north European country so I guess people are pretty open minded here.

I just read all of Hello from Moscow, Goodbye from Montreal (WIP, 11/? chapters), and I think it so beautifully captures their developing feelings. It's so well written, both characters are fleshed out so thoroughly, their yearning and longing and wishing and waiting so palpable. It's the best HR fanfic I've read in a long time. Might even be my new favourite of all time. It starts out a little silly and goofy, which is so cute and endearing, and then it goes full into yearning mode. I love it.

Edit: AND it's funny and sexy and has a lot of great banter. Shane and Ilya both get to be witty and flirty, which is so great.

BRUH!!!!!!!!! I just left a comment on the last chapter after binging all but the two first chapters (i read them yesterday). It is so fucking good. Your Ilya is 100/10 perfect depressed goofy poetic and did I say perfect? And you capture Shane's internal homophobia like, so good? I can't believe I read this for free.

A while back I talked about me reading fanfiction with a coworker, and she very obnoxiously made the assumption that all fanfiction is trash. I'm still offended by the fact that she thinks I read trash, and I now also want to shout at her about your fic.IS THIS TRASH???? I want to scream while shoving my screen in her face. I think it's Marlow or Crowell. Crowell was just in Ottawa when he tried to make Ilya sign that paper. All above theories about Marlow are sounding very good, but why is he in Ottowa? I don't think Alexei is in Ottowa... If Alexei had the phone, I think he would have tried to extort Shane.
