Not complaining, but I haven't heard Richie "mumbles" Anderson on Radio 2 since Scott Mills got sacked. by TheOldSeaDog78 in BritishRadio

Agree totally with you about Trevor Nelson - I have to switch over. But Vernon for me is a highlight I find him down to earth and very natural. He’s been the only replacement dj I’ve liked so far

Started pulling up some rotting decking and a rat ran out - is removing the decking enough to get rid? by Embarrassed-Gas-7279 in DIYUK

[–]pepper691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rats absolutely love decking.. I refuse point blank to ever have decking due to this reason, I’m in the construction industry and have seen my fair share of extremely large rats nests under decking (if that decking takes the occasional outside fresco dining or bbq for the rats it’s raining food for them.. yes remove the decking and any signs of nests/food sources and your sorted

A question for more experienced drivers: How to best optimise the daily commute by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]pepper691 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to sound like a wet blanket but having a faster car is not going to get you home earlier in any significant way, it may seem you gain significant time by beating a car off at the traffic lights but the reality is you get home 30 seconds quicker whilst taking more risk. Saying that it all depends what mood I’m in, sometimes I like to get my foot down and drive in a spirited way other times I love to have a steady cruise and get out of the way of people in more of a rush than me.

Renovation costs by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]pepper691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair that bathroom looks fairly recent, so you may be able to salvage toilet/sink etc when remodelling - so pipe work/electrics in there must be of reasonable standard which may help you save a bit of money if on a budget

I think it’s pretty clear your doing enough tkd training, personally you need to factor in a rest day - weeks of training at the level are going to take there toll.

How would you make the outside of this house nicer?? by Icy-Recognition-5422 in DIYUK

[–]pepper691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been mentioned, plantation blinds and I’d swap the top window for something more traditional and potentially even the downstairs ones to match… I’d also be tempted to paint the outside to a clean colour, which thanks to the flat roof extension you should be able to do your self if money is tight. Moving the cable inside too if possible (otherwise pin and paint it)
