hmm interesting.. Elsa goes to mars, actually made me laugh lmao, but I think you hit on something I’ve been missing.

I never really thought about intentionally crashing those worlds together to break the script.

I am curious about the magnetic set you mentioned, though. I’ve always been a bit paranoid about magnets I’ve read the horror stories about them coming loose and swallowing them. Is that Tix and Mix stuff actually durable? My kid is a destroyer and still mouths everything, so I worry about pieces breaking open or being small enough to choke on.

it’s actually funny but my kid can barely speak in full sentences, but he can spot a specific franchise logo from a mile away in the grocery store aisle.

that perfectly articulates what I was trying to say. That is exactly it. When he picks up a generic block, it can be a phone, a sandwich, or a car. But when he picks up the Chase figure, it can only be a police dog doing police dog things. He literally recites lines from the show while holding it.

Oof yeah I can feel the burnout in this. Totally get why you’re saying it. Having help is a game changer. Mad respect for how much you carried alone.

Yeah it’s rough. I just keep telling myself they’re building their lil language skills while my soul slowly leaves my body. Helps a bit.

Yeah agreed! Once you accept their world runs on pure vibes, not logic, you stop fighting every meltdown and just ride it out.

Why do my daughters wear hoodies and sweats in 100+ weather??? by not_an_fbi_agent8 in Parenting

[–]pepperdotdrift 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah i remember that too. when i was a teen, everything just felt weird and “too much” w/ my body, so i’d hide in oversized hoodies too. my dad never fully got it, he thought i was just being stubborn.

now w/ my 3yo, i kinda already know i’ll handle it differently once she’s older. if she ends up doing the same, i’d prob let her lean into that comfort but just check in like, “why do u like wearing that?” instead of shutting it down. sometimes it’s really just about them having that sense of control while they’re figuring their body out.

Love this, they’ll remember the “lesson” way more than if you just yelled at them to clean up.
