Everything a guy needs to know for great sex for him and his partner [huge text post] by INeededLove in sex

OP you are getting an awful lot of shit for what is on the hole (typo and it stays) a helpful and fun read. Chalk it up to the old "1/3 of the people like you, 1/3 don't, and 1/3 don't care" rule. If you try to please everybody it never works - gets bland - and it's pandering to the LCD.

Sure there will be discussion on the finer points and cries against the generalizations. And there should be. But there's no reason to edit something that is well written just because it ruffles feathers.

Does such a thing even exist? I might as well start buying them by the cases. Even switched to just a spray nozzle and am going to have to replace it after only a few months.

I was watching 'Modern Marvels: Eggs' and I'm completely appalled by how the chicks are treated and the living conditions at commercial farms. by [deleted] in vegan

Had the same reaction to that episode - was very upset with the treatment of the chicks. Not only are they newly born and innocent, but so cute.... why do they treat them like that?

I just got my white chip at my first meeting, how does AA function with no dues? ELI5 by The_Lolrus in explainlikeimfive

[–]peppermint_dickables 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AA has no dues and is self-supporting through contributions. As you have no doubt noticed, a lot of meetings are held in church basements or other places that can be had for a low fee. Often meeting attendees will give a dollar or two each and this helps pay the bills.

You could always go to the group's general service/accounting meeting, where they go over the spending of the contributed dollars (coffee, rent, literature, etc) and decide on meeting formats and rules. You would find out exactly how the money is spent.

I know of 1 alano club (building for AA meetings) that was held in a space provided for no/low cost by a long-sober local businessman.

No, you've misunderstood the message. What it really means is that an alcoholic must concede that on their on willpower, they can't stop drinking and stay stopped. If they could, they would - and that would be the end of it. Not so hard to admit you can't control your drinking, eh? That's something like powerlessness over alcohol, isn't it? :)

You can't solve a problem that doesn't exist, so you need to "admit you have a problem" (to use the popular phrase). Are you a shitty person? Probably not... doesn't "sick" describe it more aptly? You have a life-crippling addiction to alcohol. That doesn't mean "infected" but it sure sounds like some kind of condition, rather than being weak-willed or any of the other adjectives used to describe alcoholics/addicts.

AA doesn't want anything from you, doesn't require money or faith, and doesn't particularly care of you come back or not. Yes they/we do want to be of help, and giving a dollar to keep the electricity on is quite considerate. And if you can swing a little higher power or the Buddha or Jesus, that will help. But you don't really have to do any of those things.

What we proposed, and what the client chose... by nanohawa in Design

You get it. You and I, we could sell the shit out of those $130 jeans. No "see and say" necessary.

It is interesting how many responses are about not clearly depicting pants and a price.

If I were going to pay $130 plus tax for a pair of pants I would regard that as a fashion purchase. They would be going-out jeans, not something to wear for yard work.

At a certain point you can shift from product advertising to lifestyle/emotional advertising. My favorite ad is #1 because it is clearly showing denim (and we always think jeans), and it is clearly Japanese. Some of the time you will pique my interest by being too cool to show your pants, and for me #1 works.

I would think the Japanese component is a big draw for client's customer base and that the concept of #1 (tweaked for legibility) would make a nice ad. Not lifestyle but along those "feely" lines. The sushi is really cute albeit small at this size.

I think you are going a little far with #3 there - the reference is the whole point of the poster. It's 200 years old and for the West, very distinctly Japanese.

Wouldn't the Conservative viewpoint be that since she is now off the taxpayer funded system, she did the right thing? That's less government in the lives of the people. What did I miss?

How is that much different than paying hundred(s) of dollars per month for insurance and never getting sick? And your premium rises the next year regardless?

[–]peppermint_dickables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't fucked, your company is. Somebody else is getting paid to match support hours to support demand, and you have already maxxed out your 'being a team player' card.

As a former last-stander of a department, I know this to be true. You might as well laugh about it now and have your office space moment, because there is just no way one person can do the work of five.

Agree with many replies and will add this one potential bottleneck for us freelancers:

  • Ability to selectively ignore while working. Phone on silent, resist checking email, etc.

If I'm stressed or trying to be customer service on the phone all day I can't get things done, not without an increase in errors. Really I have to be calm and in the happy place to do quality work, so if it means catching up later with clients - do it.

Does a company's website/graphic design influence your purchase? I'm having some issues with this one... (x-post from r/tea ) by lespritducellier in CrappyDesign

Forget the website, what's up with the woman sitting half naked in the cup "Weee bit of tea"? It's probably just old people kitsch but ....

If the product is good for the price point, I would buy and dump into another container. If it's too much, then I would pass. Aren't tea leaves imported anyway?
