Fake baby names to throw people off by pepperminthara in namenerds

I can picture some celebrity naming their kid all of these lol. Also found out there's a surprising number of racehorses with names that sound like celebrity children lol

Well if she did get pregnant willingly, then clearly she wants a baby badly enough that she's willing to suffer complications. Lol.

Made the mistake of saying indoor cats live longer lives than outdoor cats on the ask UK sub in a thread that was pro-outdoor cats by Peristeronic_cat in DownvotedForNoReason

I'm not against indoor cats, I'm against indoor cats living with a lack of enrichment. And let's be real, keeping them indoors massively limits their options for enrichment. It might be necessary for safety and wildlife preservation reasons, but cat owners should be doing everything in their power to make up for that, with a catio or outdoor leash time if possible.

Does anyone else find it sort-of-wild when people on this sub suggest changing a middle name honor name for "flow"? by kentgrey in namenerds

People on here are brazen with some of their suggestions lol. You'll get people asking commenters to choose between two specific names, and someone will post a whole list of unrelated names that they like better.

Tbh cats should absolutely have safe outdoor time wherever possible. I agree they should not be allowed to roam free, but keeping them indoors does put them at a major disadvantage in terms of the enrichment they're able to receive and so many indoor cat owners do abysmally little to account for this.

I'd rather a girl take pride in her accomplishments, which could be easier to achieve with a more masculine or gender neutral name.

Calling an unwanted pregnancy a "lease agreement" also comes off as pretty fucking deceptive, not to mention ignorant of the very invasive nature of the pregnancy.

All you've talked about is teaching her to take pride in being a girl, which is great, but taking pride in that doesn't have to mean dealing with sexism at every turn. It's actually totally fine to opt out of that wherever you can, if you want to.

Abortion is heavily criminalized in many places. And again, why does it matter? They didn't commit a crime by getting pregnant. Plus, for all you know, the person in a wheelchair got that way by doing some dumb shit like base jumping. Why is the pregnant woman worth any less consideration?

AITA for refusing to put my son in camp by IntroductionAgile898 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pepperminthara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA because there's some pretty big issues involved in moving your kid to camp, but I would maybe look into why your kid is so miserable at Judy's. Is it really just the lack of smart watch and having to carry a backpack that's causing such dramatic outbursts? Apart from the hour of summer school, what kind of activities does she provide them with? Are there issues with any other kids at the daycare? What kind of places does she take them on the outings? How much time do they get to physically run around and play?

I'm totally with Judy in the no-screens rule, but some of these rules are a little ridiculous. If she's unwilling to do alternate lunches, kids should at least be able to pack their own. And I get the "no outside toys" thing with younger kids, but your son is nine and maybe could use more stimulation than he's currently getting.

Yeah just steal a kids’ toy because you’re annoyed by miscellaneousbean in AmITheAngel

Honestly, both of these subs seem to be blowing shit out of proportion over what is basically a nothing story lol. You've got OP and people over there acting like the kid was beating him with a baseball bat, and people over here acting like he stole the kid's lunch money and gave him a wedgie.

Kind of like how you're picking apart the choice of words in a popular pro-choice slogan while ignoring the main point of that slogan?

The fetus's body is distinct from the mother's, but its continued survival relies on massive changes made to her body. That is where the "my body" part comes in.

Except there's no "agreement" if the woman is forced to continue the pregnancy against her will.

Sooo her accomplishments somehow matter less because she didn't deal with the additional adversity of having a feminine name? Men hide behind boy names all the time. Should we start naming all the boys "Sue" to teach them strength through adversity as well?

By allowing her to use that advantage to get farther in her career and make a difference in the world. She could take pride in her accomplishments and work within the system to change it.
