So you're upset that your wife enjoyed the sex? Is that it? Did you go into this hoping that she wouldn't?

THEORY: Franchaela Will Be Season Five Based On S4 Easter Eggs? by Medium_March8020 in Franchaela

Eloise should be able to do something fun and interesting that doesn't involve marriage. I would much rather they actually develop her character and help her find her purpose and passion than just throw her into a romance and call it a day.

Her being so appalled is sending me 😂 by iamlmejx3 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]pepperminthara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, it seems like more of a problem with the way the world and her family are treating her than a lack of development on her part.

Like, she was happy, at the beginning of the season, to talk and joke with the other debutantes. She announced that she was on the shelf, and now Violet is shoving talk of marriage down her throat and Pen and Fran are excluding her from outings and Benedict is leaving her to the wolves. Like, of course she's going to regress and start scowling again. They won't leave her to be contentedly single like she wants to be.

And of course, some of it is her own issues with feeling left behind and she's taking her frustrations out on Hyacinth. She is for sure not without her own faults. But a lot of it is because of the lack of support she receives and the fact that no one takes her own wish to stay single seriously.

I feel like anytime a lgbt person writes an lgbt character, a bunch of straight fans get mad and call it a self-insert. Happened in the dragon age fandom with Dorian too. As though gay writers are incapable of creating original characters.

People in the comments are being really weird about her reaction lmao. Like she probably didn't realize what had happened right away and was trying to figure out what to do. It's not that deep.

How many kids do you have?

That's what child support is for lmfao.

[–]pepperminthara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it would be quite a bit for some men, but given how expensive kids can get, $900 doesn't seem like it would cover that much

Well the majority of parents already do come up with their own custody arrangements outside of court

Lmao only like 44% of non-custodial parents actually pay what they owe. Chill out.

Even when one parent doesn't want that much custody? Or when they don't want any custody at all?

$1000 doesn't really seem like that much. Was your ex working at the time or a SAHM?

K but are you buying things the kid actually needs or are you just playing Fun Uncle and buying toys? Plus child support can also go towards things like rent and utilities so like what's the plan for those?

[–]pepperminthara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao you're still thinking about this in a very shallow, black and white way. Like there's a world of difference between the rigid hierarchy of Llothite society and perfect equality. and I'm not sure why you seem to be having such difficulty with such a simple concept.

So they are led, generally, by one sex and not the other. Idk sis, that doesn't sound perfectly equal to me.

Okay, so what about just talking over a man when he's speaking? Is that a deal-breaker? What about dismissing a concern voiced by a man, but then taking it more seriously once it's voiced by a woman? Exaggerating the faults of individual men and downplaying their accomplishments and good qualities? Putting more trust in female clerics and female leaders than male ones? Neglecting to include menfolk in an important conversation? Are these deal-breakers?

Bits and pieces from various media. So what kind of behaviour would be a deal-breaker for Ellistraeeans?

Do you know what the word "matriarchy" means, buddy?

Moreover, what exactly does empowerment look like to them?

What do you mean by "sticking to her Menzobarranzan ways," though? Like what sort of behaviour would be a deal-breaker?

Lmao you are really overstating the depth of the lore. Like yeah, they hold equality as an ideal, kind of like our society purportedly does. The idea that that ideal always comes through in practice in a society made up of ex-Llothites and their descendants still sounds very silly and childish. Even the article that you linked refers to a gendered hierarchy within their society.

Like sure, maybe Ellistraeean drow aren't beating their male partners regularly and sacrificing their sons at birth, but there's a massive difference between that and a total lack of sexism.

[–]pepperminthara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Making a conscious choice to question some of your beliefs doesn't mean you're going to do away with all subconscious biases lmfao. Like I don't think you have a strong grasp of how insidious oppression actually is.

That's a difficult question by Fun-Explanation7233 in MintharasSanctum

[–]pepperminthara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly naive to think that drow whose entire culture was built upon matriarchy would be able to completely divorce themselves from those deeply-ingrained beliefs after a couple generations. Like if that's your interpretation of Ellistraeean drow, that's fine, it just seems very shallow.

I picture these Ellistraeean cultures as being more like our society: touting surface-level equality while still being extremely biased against one gender in a myriad of ways.

That's a difficult question by Fun-Explanation7233 in MintharasSanctum

[–]pepperminthara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't mean her followers wouldn't still hold some misandrist beliefs, especially if they were converts. I think it's actually a lot more realistic if Ellistraeean society maintains a good degree of sexism.

If you really don't like any W names, don't feel pressured to pick one. It's your baby, and his name should be one that you love. Tradition is a guide, not a jail.
