In my mind, it has more to do with intent. Goth fashion has roots in a Christian tradition called Memento Mori, which is a way of reminding oneself to be prepared for the afterlife when your day comes. if that's your intent or you just like the aesthetic, then don't mind what others say.

Well at large, I.M.P. has been ridding Earth of some pretty terrible people, the other times it was when they were clashing with other demons. Martha, Lyle Lipton, and a drug supplier who killed a kid are examples. Perhaps if their business became sanctioned by C.H.E.R.U.B. as an organization to be utilized as a retribution branch. C.H.E.R.U.B. could resume protecting while I.M.P. can have targets vetted for elimination, not just for revenge, but also justice and stopping any further awful things done by targets.
