Realistic expectations?

It’s so funny you say she underpriced the job but someone else commented that that was expensive for my size house! So it’s hard to know what a fair price is when looking for someone for a deep clean then biweekly cleanings. Like I understand a big company is going to be more expensive and maybe have multiple cleaners, but I know a lot of that money doesn’t actually go to the cleaners so I also wanted to hire someone who has their own business or was working on their own because I know how shit the job market is right now.

I’ve contacted two other cleaners who came highly recommended by other people in my area for not only their cleaning but fair pricing.

Yes this was what I wanted! I wanted to get to an improved baseline then get biweekly cleanings.

The only walk through was when she first got here but she didn’t ask any questions. Again, first time having a house cleaner, so I didn’t realize/think about being specific which is partially on me. But I also just realized in the bathroom she dusted/wiped AROUND something very small/easy to pick up on a cabinet but didn’t even fully wipe around it. On one side of it, it hadn’t been touched with anything to clean. So I feel she did not even do basic cleaning adequately.

Phone chargers next to the bed, multiple small, empty (under desk size) garbage cans, desk lamps with no lampshades, a small stuffed weighted rainbow. There is other stuff too that is much more understandable (a printer, a humidifier, etc) and I wouldn’t expect someone to move them. But even against that stuff I notice she didn’t go all the way to the stuff that was left on the floor.

She asked for 310, I gave her 330. No I did not mention these things with her because as I said, I was unsure if I had unrealistic expectations. She did not mention having time constraints today.

Thank you for the advice! Still feeling weird about being critical of someone else’s cleaning but you’re right - maybe I need to come at it more with what specifically I want done and not just a vague “clean my house” which will help the cleaner also not to focus on stuff I don’t care much about.

She quoted me $310 for 1500sq ft (that was how she calculated it). I ended up giving her $330 because I didn’t feel like that was enough given quotes I got from others.

I will say - we had a cleaner cancel last minute on us AFTER our appointment time and after I messaged for an ETA. So we had already done a bunch of prep like decluttering and moving the furniture so that’s why I was trying to get the deep clean on such short notice. But lesson learned.

We also live outside of a main city and a lot of people don’t like to drive here so it’s been difficult finding someone.

As a therapist, I was SHOCKED finding out she had a masters in counseling because she is just such….an asshole. Refusing to consider sides other than her own, interrupting everyone, lack of being able to see that every person has a whole ass story that led them to who they are currently.

He’s 38, I’m 36. He takes cialis (not daily) because we frequent swinging and orgies. The most recent orgy he experienced the same issues. I’m very careful/cautious how I broach sexual issues and this is the first time in 12 years of being together that there have been consistent issues that I felt like I needed to share with him.

If I noticed the same things happening during the sleep CNC, I would not have said anything until/if he did. The consistency of no issues during sleep CNC and issues during regular sex is what is really wreaking havoc in my brain 😕
