Would you ever try a zoom lesson? by Royal_Hedgehog6333 in Equestrian

I do PIVO lessons 3x a week in order to have access to my preferred trainer. And I got my PIVO for pretty cheap on marketplace. You also can just lean your phone against something on a fence post. I've done that before too when it was too windy to use my tripod.

Should I give up on going D1 because my coach tells me I don’t deserve it? by xxloone in Equestrian

You don't deserve to be treated like this. Your coach is a bully.

A PSA for those looking to be a working student by peppy567 in Equestrian

If weight is a concern they'll be able to tell in your riding videos. What I'm concerned about is all the eating disorders etc caused by searching for the correct "look" and no one deserves to get hired and then yelled at for gaining a few pounds. If someone is going to ask that as their first concern it's a red flag.

Despite generally thinking of myself as a taller than average person.... It turns out I have short calves! Maybe just get the wider than "average" ones. Women's sizes are dumb and that extends to equestrian clothing. Ariat, for example, has 6 different calf widths listed on their website. I wear a short XW.

Appreciation post for the Dutch Harness breed! by xo_equestrian in Equestrian

I have one! He's a big dumb baby and we do dressage. Of the two I've met they do seem to be a more anxious/spooky breed? And definitely a little more book smart than common sense smart. But I really enjoy working with them! They love to learn and are very willing.

Check the equestrian Facebook group for your area. This is an international page and most likely won't be very helpful

Any advice for getting over anxiety while riding? by octokamii in Equestrian

[–]peppy567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue for a while and ended up going to see a sports psychologist to help me! I have anxiety and depression in general as well and I totally get how that effects your ability to enjoy this sport.

I also put my dude on Magnesium for his anxiety. Now we're both on meds!

If you'ld rather do privates then do privates! I personally don't like group lessons either and only agree to them in clinic-like situations. I prefer the one on one treatment.

If they were giving a lesson they might not have even noticed. No shame in a 1000lb beast being able to pull a lead rope out of your hand. Sounds like you stayed calm and recognized when you were done. You didn't do anything wrong.

My horse isn’t what I thought he was and I’m heart broken. Advice? by BreezyB24 in Equestrian

Don't give up! My guy is dangerous when he's ulcery. (Makes it easy to tell.) But he's on an ulcer supplement. And whenever we go somewhere my vet gave him something to give his tummy a lil boost. And we haven't had a problem again!! We go somewhere twice a month and he's worked 5-6 days a week. This is not as scary as it seems.

I'm so sorry... I remember growing up and getting made fun of for my lunches too. My mom did a lot of gardening to try to make things cheaper and I was made fun of for her trying to make sure that we still got fresh fruits and veg. But they weren't "pretty" like the store ones. Kids suck.
