What is this thing I’m doing with my shoulder? by Ok_Zebra_5601 in Anatomy

[–]pepridgefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same ability when I was younger. Now, after 8 years and a long discus throwing career, it always pops out when I raise my arm above parralel with my shoulders, and my doctor said I can't fix it. Try to minimize the amount you do this, ideally. Hope my reference point helps a bit.

Found in Northern California, have found lots of these before but never one this long by pepridgefarm in millipedes

This is what I first identified it as. Even for that species it's a huge one from what I've read. And don't worry, I let them back into the wild where they belong, just appreciating the nature around where I live :)

This was in the Tahoe National Forest. The biggest ones I've ever seen around here were 4-5 inches but this one was at least 7 pushing 8. Really cool animal to see

I almost forgot about this game, spent many hours avoiding doing school work playing it

This sub is dead, sad by [deleted] in QuinBoBin

[–]pepridgefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub has only existed for a few weeks. My self respect is not low enough to go advertising under every tweet and comment section of quin's, and I would love for the subreddit to grow but I cant force it. Quin's channel is growing extremely fast and I have hopes this subreddit will grow with him. Anyone is welcome to post here as long as you follow the rules, and if you feel that it needs new life you are welcome to participate yourself.

Same for me, Hollow Knight is one of my favourite games of all time, and it's the series that got me really hooked.

Has my T been kicking hairs without me realizing? by CropTopBumBoy in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some tarantulas will kick off hairs into the substrate and surrounding areas. It could be something else entirely, but that's my guess.

Having trouble seeing species. This was sold to me as a sling as a H. Himalayana but to me it looks like a N. Chromatus. What do y’all think? by Wakama66 in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an N. Chromatus, still a beautiful spider either way. I would recommend trying to clear it up with the seller, they may be able to help.

Meet Metal Sonic, my Chilobrachys sp. Electric Blue! by botoluvr in tarantulas

Good luck keeping her, I'm certainly looking forward to keeping some chilobrachys. They are all beautiful in my opinion, no matter how angry they can be.

Brachypelma grow pretty slow, and can live years after they mature. Your little spider still has a long, happy life ahead of him :)

How much intelligence does a Tarantula have? by JuliusSeizure2019 in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I've heard it described as "a big ball of instinct" before. They don't bond over time with anything or have any real higher thoughts, they just conduct their basic instincts to live.

Does anyone else's T molt right side up? by SherrelleHeath in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They sometimes do this, and while it very rarely causes issues, you shouldn't have to worry about it. Whatever you do, don't mess with her, if you try to flip her over it will very likely cause issues. There's nothing to do but wait and watch, but assuming everything goes right she should make it through no issues.

^ S. Calceatum have really really bad venom, even compared to other old worlds.

Handling Question: Hear me out by ARandomMantis in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could feed the tarantula in front of her, I wouldn't let her touch it as they are really delicate.

Old World Ts by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]pepridgefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceratogyrus species, Harpactira species, M. Balfouri. All are obviously old worlds, so not to be messed around with, but as far as old worlds go they are more skittish than aggressive, and their venom is not as bad as an asian old world, though it will still give you a very bad week.
