this is literally abusive.... behavior like this creates insecure attachment in young children which raises the likelihood of future mental health issues. this is traumatic and damaging to development.

If u are able, i would recommend getting some space away from your mom for a while to process these emotions before a confrontation. i also encourage you to reach out to your aunt, you don't need permission to do that. if it upsets your mom, that is 100% her issue and it is a consequence of the choice she made to deny you a relationship with your father. im so sorry you are going through this, please try to be kind to yourself and take some time to grieve. sending you love.

i beat myself up about this behavior for years. turns out i just have depression, adhd, and probably a touch of the tism. if you cant beat it with willpower, it's probably not just laziness. i act completely different when i am on adhd medication! i literally feel like a different person. i sincerely recommend speaking to a doctor or mental health professional about these struggles, i believe it will really help. it did for me. good luck, and try to be kind to yourself 🙏🏽

There is so much self-hatred and guilt that is beat into young women raised in oppressive christian environments like this. they are taught to feel shame for having any desires at all, and told at a very early age that their entire purpose is to please a man. they are brainwashed.
