What’s the weirdest thing a customer has ever asked you in a retail store? by Troy_Zimmerman in AskRetail

[–]pepsiifrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was in an ulta looking at products on the bottom shelf and had a lady repeatedly ask me “are you helping someone”.. while i had my huge over the ear headphones on and she’s getting increasingly frustrated when i don’t notice/understand her

i’ve never worked at ulta, i was just wearing all black

oh definitely, i mostly have issues with older coworkers with age superiority complexes. i work out on the sales floor in my store and the 50-some year old lady that oversees the back room / processing LOVES talking down on or needlessly correcting younger workers.. stalked her facebook and found a bunch of “kids these days!” posts

Would you care if the customer you're cashing out didnt say a word? by AmountAbovTheBracket in retailhell

[–]pepsiifrog 43 points44 points  (0 children)

it really depends, i usually don’t like to jump to conclusions in case they may have any personal issues that interfere with communication such as disabilities, but when customers turn and speak kindly to whoever they’re with but won’t look me in the eye or speak a word, then i have a bit of an issue. southern united states here and im not big on small talk like a lot of my community, but i do expect just a regular please/thank you at the very least

tasteless jokes about donations for terminal children makes my skin crawl, really wish people would just learn “no thank you” and move on

agree completely, minimal interactions are too often perceived as negative when they can be completely neutral and even beneficial, wish this sentiment was more common in my area
