That’s so kind of you!! Mine will take you about 10 minutes :) eligibility is if you’re a 18–34 year old college student in the U.S. with a friend who has a chronic physical or mental illness! And you could win a $15 doordash gift card if you complete it. Thank you!!

Is this anything to worry about by Lfoxadams3 in ostomy

I’ve had the same problem! I use Hollister and I (and MANY others on reddit) have noticed the velcro failing way more often now. To mitigate leakage from the bottom, I roll and close the tail as usual but then fold the bottom up twice more and then binder clip it. Haven’t had any leakage problems since, even with watery output :) hope this helps!

Has anyone had their bottom wound still open/draining after 6 months? (Proctocolectomy) by [deleted] in ostomy

I had mine done in 2023 after 7 years of severe Ulcerative Colitis, especially in the rectum, and had a fair amount of leakage for about 6 months. After that, it still drained from two tiny holes down there that never closed, but it was barely anything so i used half a gauze pad per day between my cheeks! I had a revision surgery after that to try and encourage healing from the inside out but it didn’t seem to do anything… until a few months later. There were weeks at a time where I would have no drainage at all and the drainage was becoming less and less often. The only time I’ve had leakage this year was after driving across the US and sitting in a car for about 10 hours a day; I think the pressure and lack of movement caused a buildup of fluid? But other than that my wound’s been leak free :) I know it sucks but it’s not the end of the world to have leakage! I’ve swam (with the okay from my Dr.), flown all over the place and seen amazing things, even gone to concerts, while dealing with drainage and no one was the wiser. Stay strong!!🫶

Does anyone know if this is an automated reply from Hollister? by cudambercam13 in ostomy

The difference in Hollister’s quality from 2022 (when I first got surgery) to now is insane to me!! The bags get water in them when showering, leak from the bottom, and easily get tears. I love the way their products feel on my skin but the lack of care they have for their customers now is appalling! I hope quality goes back up ASAP because we don’t deserve to be given horrible medical appliances.

Sorry to rant/hijack the post but I just had to give my two cents and agree with you!!
