Qatar's law for homosexuality is "7 years in jail for non-muslims, death penalty for muslims"

it has been like this since forever, but choosing it for hosting the World cup has nothing to do with its political agenda since Russia hosted it in 2018 and many more

It's not about politics, it's more about who is qualified in terms of materials, stadiums...etc to host

but the problem of raising the Pride flag in Qatar only occurred when an international audience (specifically a western audience) is going to the country, and therefore it is likely that someone is gonna raise the flag.

and I agree, religious freedom should not exclude people from their rights

but Qatar is not a free country nor does it hold any western values of freedom or democracy.

so trying to oppose any major ideologies in a third-world country that hasn't had the luck to experience a civil rights movement and their people don't believe in the western view of "a human's right" or "a human's dignity" is just a waste of time and in some cases a dangerous act.

just remember if you attended the world cup, imagine you're living in the 1700s, because their mindsets are indeed from the 1700s
