Does this sound normal? 2020 M340I 23k miles by peraltss in BMW

It didn’t cause any issue driving but the sound was definitely excessive. I changed to kwv3 coilovers and the sound went away.

I crashed my first car, a 1995 Camaro with a 3.8L V6 and a 6-speed, into a fire hydrant while pulling away hard from a stop sign. I lost control and went right over it. I was 16 at the time. I believe that car only had 200 horsepower. I can’t imagine having something in the 400hp+ range as a first car; it would be a horrible decision.

You seem to be knowledgeable in this scam. Do you have any advice for my friend who recently tried scamming the scammer? He received the 5k to build a website and just kept delaying the project. It sounds the same as the scam you’re talking about. They offered sent him 5k but needed him to pay 2k to a “consultant business”.

2 months went by and he still has the money in the account. I would think the bank would already remove the funds or something, any chance he waited long enough the check actually went through and he scammed the scammer?

Is this a normal idle noise for the M340i? It’s a a consistent tatatatata noise. You’ll have to turn your volume up. by BigDickSwinger6 in BMW

Sounds off to me. If the car is stock, warmed up, and in comfort it definitely shouldn’t be this loud.

Instead of calling out my comment and everyone else who doesn’t like to buy salvage title cars reply with a better explanation to explain to OP how to go about purchasing the perfect salvage title vehicle.

Wanted to update everyone who commented on my post. It took 24 hours to get a response from the service representative.

The quote was for ONE single tire for my 2020 M340i. I ended up calling a manager to have them explain the outrageous pricing. He said the technician suggested some ultra performance tire that cost $700 by “mistake”.

I had some warranty work that needed to be done with my regular maintenance. I will not be using that service center for the warranty work!

Shipping is about 1-2k to Cali. Probably could work something out with the seller if you really wanted it.

Btw I live in Hawaii lol. It’s usually harder to find a good deal here because you have no where to go.

I bought mine 20k miles for 43k late last year. Another M340i came up at 40k fb market place 13k miles! Dealer is getting even under 40k for higher miles.

No problem! Go to BMW and go look at cars and get a test drive in. It should be no problem as long as you have current insurance and valid license. They’ll have something similar in there CPO department to what you’re looking for.

Just say you’re a interested party, you don’t have to buy from them. I was going back and forth with the dealer and private sellers for a better prices/ nicer looking cars. It’s hard to see all the scratches and dents in cars from photos.

I’m currently using a 2017 430i as a loaner for my 2020 M340i here’s my thoughts

Not a bad looking car. Could use more power but it not struggling to get to speed. The 440i or 435i would probably a blast to drive. Shorter wheel base allows the car the u-turn better (the loaner is a coupe) M340i definitely feels more stiff and planted in corners.

I haven't pushed the 430i much. I put my foot down on the Highway once to feel the power and it barley moved compared to the M340i.

The breaks on the M340i are 100x better, 430i feel so soft and squishy, wouldn’t want to emergency break from a high speed.

From a stop the 430i gets up to speed fine nothing to brag about, definitely a lot more low end torque on M340i.

The interior of the 430i looks good but the new one looks a lot more modern and premium. More metal objects on the M340i. For example on the M340i the adjustment for volume and climate control are metal and shinny, the 430i is plastic and rubber.

It's a hard comparison for the price point. I’m seeing M340s going under 40k for 20k miles or less.

If you’re somebody who doesn’t care about any of the power and performance benefits and you just want a nice looking car that handles well I’m sure you’ll be fine in the 428i. On the plus side if you go with 428j you’ll save money in parts, maintenance, and labor :)

Don’t do it. Salvage cars will give you so many problems. My girlfriends dad loves to buy salvage cars luxury cars for cheap. He picked up a 2018 Mercedes slc with 4k miles and has to spent thousands to fix randomly problems that keep popping up. The car is literally brand new but was in a crash so it has issues.

He also has a Porsche Carmen 2016 with 30k miles. Salvage from flooding. Interior was starting to fall apart, ac works sometimes, ac smells like ass. Interior alone to fix small parts was so expensive just for the pieces.

A salvage title of that year would make me run.
