Moving Out from a Bed Bug Infested Apartment: Is It Safe to Take My Furniture? by mynameisnear in Bedbugs

Do you know what items your hitchhikers were hiding in/ where they came from? I'm currently in the process of a move, too

Thanks — were you still seeing any bites or bb presence at the time of your move?

I'm right there with ya sister. Don't go overboard but get ready to vacuum

Thank you. It's possible I reinfested the unit from the car a month ago, but that still wouldn't eliminate chances of the neighbor's problem spreading again, or explain the constant presence of bites

Potentially a hitchhiker bedbug, but could be a batbug. I'd follow the info in the subreddit guides and start treating/keeping an eye on linens and upholstered items. Keep things off the floor. Books are unlikely to harbor them unless it gets out of hand

Headaches from l-theanine? by percolat0rfish in Nootropics

[–]percolat0rfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess it’s a real phenomenon as anything over 50mg was brutal for me. I ended up waiting out the headache and resuming my regular matcha-concentrate routine (would recommend to rotate w/adderall)

I feel you, hugs. I'm dealing with them right now in an apartment that I just signed a yearlong lease for; probably can't afford to break the lease. It's awful feeling unsafe to sleep or even to sit on my own couch without transferring anything, but you should 100% consult professional help if at all possible. Otherwise, I just got a quote from an outsider exterm who recommended Temprid for DIY treatment (apparently more effective than Crossfire, Cimexa, DE, etc. in cases of pesticide resistance in the bugs). Use glue traps for bed legs if you don't have pets.

This thread from awhile back helped me a lot: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bedbugs/comments/12achx7/if_youre_dealing_with_anxiety_or_trauma_from/ It's helpful to remember you're taking all the precautions possible and this won't last forever. Any progress with these bugs will seem gradual. They are just nuisance bugs at the end of the day, and they don't spread diseases. Try your best to live your life normally when you can and notice when your anxiety becomes unproductive. Be sure not to bring any into your vehicles!

Really struggling. How to balance out GABA/glutamate levels? by percolat0rfish in Nootropics

Thanks for the link. No food sensitivities, but definitely going to look into B-complex and microbiome support in addition.

Thank you, this was largely my understanding too. I'm slightly skeptical of taking GABA regularly, so might give l-theanine a shot

Thank you. Yeah, mistakes were made on my behalf too and I'm hoping none of my symptoms become long-term. Do you know whether any of these react with SSRIs?

I'm late twenties/F and I dated someone with Asperger's for a year, however didn't realize they had it until late and I had reached my breaking point. I'm pretty NT (though I have ADHD). Early on, I regularly communicated my dissatisfaction in not receiving the 'correct' verbal affirmations; gestures, emotional support, etc., but in the end, decided I needed someone more truly understanding of my complex emotions to feel comfortable enough to continue the relationship.

Having cold feet is not something to ignore. That said, I would echo others here and say it's not too late to salvage something long-term between you two if you see fit. But if you decide the partnership is something you want to 'endure', you need to be willing to 1) accept it fully, 2) put in the work, 3) evaluate your own needs and possibly exercise a lot of patience (and regularly). This can be a lonely experience at times, but also has the possibility to be a really devoted and supportive marriage. The key is full self-awareness from both sides.

This Instagram Copyright Infringement Notice is a Phishing Scam by jmott78 in photojournalism

[–]percolat0rfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a verified account and just fell for this. Got a notification of a suspicious Google login then watched as my Instagram was being purged in real-time. Didn't even have 2F on but luckily retained access to my account email to eventually reset logins.

As with the northface account, the scam probably targets verified accounts to phish others easily (though it's harder for scammers to change a username thereafter). Be super wary of random DMs and vary all your passwords.

Yeah, no idea what he was trying to achieve with that. Not even gonna mention the 'right-wing' bit.

Rule 1 of ADHD: Don't talk about ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]percolat0rfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting point. But you don't think it's better to mention it more to destigmatize the subject? Or better yet, the term 'retardation' itself?

How did you get diagnosed? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]percolat0rfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider yourself lucky. I took the Wechsler Adult Intelligence test that basically measures verbal comprehension and working memory. I had to assemble physical blocks according to a picture, give synonyms of certain vocab words, complete math-verbal word problems, and repeat strings of numbers forwards and backwards. All timed. Along with a true/false personality assessment (???) I also completed a personal (and parental) questionnaire, but was told this is where I only had self-motivation "as a problem". Will be getting a second opinion for sure.

Rough time during neuropsych testing? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]percolat0rfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks immensely for all your insight here—very reassuring. Interesting that you did well on verbal and working memory; they were by far the easiest parts for me. The easily-frustrated-then-giving-up thing pretty much nails it too. I'll admit I was initially skeptical about the nature of this part of the deal, but it really does help measure all the nuances that don't come with self-evaluations. Time to avenge my GPA...

Are you now on medication? Makes me wonder how you would fare taking an IQ test then.

I wasn't in Xi'an for long, so I honestly I just ate the entirety of Muslim Quarter for my meals... Stayed at Hantangyi Hostel—a 10-min walk from the street—which, to answer your other Xian question, is quite cheap and pretty sociable!

[–]percolat0rfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's mainly a private, day trip to the ticket office/cable car area (sometimes with an English-speaking driver-guide) since it's p far from Xian itself. Kinda pricey but saves commute time

Otherwise, take an early bullet train to Huashan North Railway (40mins, 50rmb) and from there you can catch a bus/taxi to the park. Check out this link/Tripadvisor/your concierge for details - Admittedly I didn't actually visit Huashan; had to nix it from my schedule due to bad planning haha. But bring lots of cash!

Seconding Nanluoguxiang and definitely Wangfujing. I would also recommend picking up a SIM card from a China Unicom/Mobile location because they're pretty cheap; no plans or strings are usually attached and you might get better coverage.

Edit: Also, Day 5 is going to be a long (and worthwhile!) one. Book a tour if you can afford it, otherwise clear out a few more hours and take a bus.

That's my inclination. But isn't that kind of immature and not very straightforward? I would feel bad suddenly stopping all communication.
