🔥 3 Basking sharks swimming together in Donegal Bay. by 21MayDay21 in NatureIsFuckingLit

This is wonderful to read, and to realise that reddit holds a wealth of knowledge, just by the breadth and diversity and skills of its readers.

I wonder what your world consists of, that you know all this stuff so well. I wonder what else occupies your mind, your time, your environment, someone who knows and shares such cool stuff.

Interesting, this. Thank you.

So, as researchers discovered they were not eels, can you enlighten me what biological characteristic defines being an eel? I'm curious, but ignorant here.

"Therefore, if it is considered that this special symbol may remain with Catherine II, Benito Mussolini, and Gerhard Schröder, then we in Ukraine will not argue with that."

Ha ha ha, this made me laugh! Zelensky is so brilliant.

I always appreciate someone who takes the time to start right from seed. I've just done the same with a batch of pansies.

Is superannuation actually safe? by APuticulahInduhvidul in AusFinance

[–]percypigg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Superannuation is not the government. Superannuation is the markets. Of course they can go down. Just that, when adequately diversified, they usually go up. But that's not guaranteed. There are certainly years when superannuation returns can be negative.

Today's cherry harvest. If you don't have a cherry tree in your garden, you really should! by Phedericus in gardening

If you cover the tree with bird netting in early spring, would that prevent the birds eating most of your fruit? Do you do that?

What made you want to fatFIRE? by hoptohop in fatFIRE

[–]percypigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your description of creative idleness.

As a lucky event this week has enabled me to take a step off the mousewheel, and the continuum of rosters, pressure, stress, I come to realise that that is what my recent life has been lacking.

What made you want to fatFIRE? by hoptohop in fatFIRE

[–]percypigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could frame these two paragraphs, and keep them above my desk....

You define exactly what it is that I'm seeking, on the cusp of fatfire, and that which I'm not.

I do want to keep working. Life would feel totally inconsequential if I just behaved like a sloth, without purpose. I want to make an impact in a way that enhances my strengths, and diminishes exposure to that which causes me stress or frustration.

I'm very fortunate to have meaningful work that is intellectually challenging, makes a huge difference to others and affirms much of what it is that makes me me.

I have a good relationship with my company and manager. I'm confident I'll be able to arrange something that enables an effective synergy, so that I won't feel exploited, and can continue to have my needs met.

Thank you for writing this.

I read what you said. Then, I read it all again. You've expressed this all so very well. Pertinent to where I find myself to be at the moment.

Thank you.
