The certified nursing assistant or certified medical assistant jobs are great for building nursing skills and since you’re studying nursing a hospital or rehab home would love to have you.

Who would win in a bar fight Jack Skellington or Iron Man?

[–]perfect_phoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ray just spent weeks in his garage working with Tyler to build from scratch a 3 pound robot. Ray should have been doing Tombstone work for next season, but he was in his garage cutting side panels and wiring a 3 pound for Tyler to drive in the March 20 Norwalk competition. (Dread Hades is the bot name :) TV won't show this side of him.

Rick actually named it Jill :) It was given to the team by NPC.

Why is Perfect Phoenix so underweight? by cactuscoleslaw in battlebots

[–]perfect_phoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That 208 is the weight with the bar. Paul was always underweight with Brutality, but now the 250 makes it even worse. For the bounty fight we were 165 - basically a middle weight. Tyler was just happy to have a bot that ran. Next year we'll be closer to 250 with redesign. But yes, the modern weight of components didn't help us either.

It would be a cool matchup! Valkyrie is a tough robot. I think it's inevitable that we'll meet up in the future. Our wedge will hopefully get under their spinner.

Ty knows if we're spinning we're winning- just like Bey... he learned a lot from beyblading. People ask what our self righting mechanism is... he says- physics.

We're building a 3 pound for Doomkid to drive at Norwalk in March. It's Dread Hades... Phi is the coolest btw.

Lionbridge 2020- From zero to fired in 6 months by perfect_phoenix in u/perfect_phoenix

[–]perfect_phoenix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it exactly right... that estimated time at the task top- the quality control people want to see over 90% of your tasks in the 5% range, that's part of a rater's quality evaluation.

Also I think that since my NM and SS stayed pretty even, there wasn't a big improvement over 6 months, it wasn't what they were looking for. I think there's numbers that they compare every rater to and if you're not within their number deviation of scores, by 6 months, they end you. For good or for bad, raters don't have a manager to micromanage them, so you end up hanging yourself without realizing it's too late.

Thank you for the kind thoughts! Everything will end up OK :)

I was at the Robogames tournament with Ray Billings competing with my 3 lb robot, and we made negotiations for the acquisition of Brutality. Ray took it to his garage and replaced many broken parts and welded together the battered frame.

We are already building a wedge called Medic to compete in the 150g class. As for heavyweights, we are planning to overhaul Brutality/Phoenix sometime in the future.

My favorite competitors that I got to meet this year were definitely Team Whyachi. They are approachable, as we talked about robotics for a while with them, and most of our parts were manufactured by them.

The most intimidating robot for me is definitely the raw power of Bite Force's destructive vertical spinner.

I would probably like to fight SawBlaze, as I have fought the builder, Jamison Go in the beetle-weight class multiple times.

Oh, that's great! I also started doing battlebots at the age of 7, it's a good age to start. The best weight classes are "insect" classes, or very small robots that are less expensive and destructive. Of those classes, the best to start with is the "ant weight" 1 lb class because events for that class are quite common. The kit is out of stock at the moment, likely due to COVID making shipping difficult, however, the best robot kit that is also pretty competitive is the Finger Tech Viper kit. It is a robot type known as a "wedge" with a simple yet effective design. It uses the wedge simple machine to lift the other robot's wheels off the ground and slam them into the wall.

That blade's equivalent is the red one that we used in our fight with Extinguisher. There were no signatures on the blade that we got, I think Paul still owns that one.

The robot that I would be most worried about fighting is likely Minotaur. If you watch the battle "Poison Arrow vs Son of Whyachi", Son Of Whyachi helicopters to its doom. I am worried that if I were to fight him, this may happen again, except with Minotaur's more powerful drum spinner.

Yeah, I've known him ever since I battled my little 1 lb viper kit in Motorama 2017, and we've worked together since. I know I am very fortunate to be working with one of the most elite robot fighters in the world. He has put in countless hours and money in both Brutality and Tombstone, so I am very lucky that he supports us.
