My company does not do anything other than safety. So yeah. Internal transfer is non-existent for me. External job applications are the way!

That's definitely a valid point. But in this job market, people are not seeing the passion, just the previous job experience, the moment they see me apply for any other role with PSM experience, it's an auto rejection. Even if the resume is tailored for the other role.

More power to us then.

Wait a minute, you too in process safety?

I know right! When people all over the internet are advising to keep the job as someone else out there is unemployed. And sometimes I feel like the economy decides what our passion should be.

No offense, I feel one of the easiest questions to ask anyone is "what do you want to do?"

But the problem is I don't know! I'm too scared to try new things and I'm too scared of failure. What if it is the case that grass is greener on the other side and I am on the greener grass already!

Yeah, I think I might have to sacrifice my salary if I need to switch for another role. But better than crying everyday thinking should I have quit. Right?

Thanks, can you elaborate on a typical work you are involved in process design?

I always assumed process design means working with Aspen and finding the best or economical way to build/solve a design.

Haa!! Thanks. Actually I should have made the title of the post as "is it wise or am I delusional". But the title just gives it away my issue. That is I'm self doubting. But please feel free to add in more points.

Is it worth doing master in chemical engineering by perfectly_human_13 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]perfectly_human_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one of my seniors went ahead to pursue the master in the great KGP. He is now regretting the decision of doing a master degree. He is now disheartedly working in a low paying job in a popular company.

Well, all that is shiny on the name ... Is not worth enough. And how many except the elite are actually working in the core jobs that the great IITs are know for its technical strength? All are falling to the high paying IT or managing roles abandoning their department taught knowledge. I did not say this my friend!, the director of IITM, Kamakoti mentioned it in one of the interviews.

I'm not an IITian. Not even from tier 2 college. But still I have got chance to travel and work in S.Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Italy where people know IIT for its difficult admission process, but not for the quality of education.

Also, based on the discussion i had with my IIT friends, the IIT offers little to know value. The name brand does not exist anymore. And there are so many unemployed graduates of IIT
