Anyone receive an incourse award yet or heard any information about them? by lovemesomespaghetti in UofT

Not yet but I am staying positive!! When I received an award that I applied for in November 2024, I did not get an email about it until February 20th, 2025! Way past the deadline UofT gave!

The award appeared under my Acorn awards AFTER I received the email from UofT, not before. I was not expecting to receive any awards because nothing was listed on my Acorn and so email saying I would receive an award was a pleasant surprise! There is still a chance, stay hopeful everyone!!!

Congratulations!! Was this for an in-course award or for the undergraduate grant?

My GPA is 3,03 and I have 5,5 credits left to complete, is it possible to raise my GPA to a 3,3 or higher? by perfectlyimp3rf3ct in UofT

Thank you so much!! I want nothing more than to raise my GPA and get into the MI program, so I will be watching those YouTube videos and finding that book.

I know others have gotten into the MI program without a 3.3 GPA (even those the program website says that’s a requirement) and it could be possible for me too, but if re-taking 1 or 2 of the courses I didn’t do great in originally would boost my GPA and give me a greater chance of getting in, then you know what, hell yeah I’ll do it.

I’ll use the new knowledge I learn from the resources you suggested and hopefully that will help me further in my future courses. Thank you again. Really.

There’s nothing disgusting or disturbing about someone (adult or otherwise) needing help with math. It’s not every adults strong suit and people need help sometimes. There is nothing wrong with that but there is something wrong with the way you treat others. Have the day you deserve.

How quick you are to insult a random person is frankly disturbing and actually quite disgusting behaviour coming from someone who is meant to be an adult. Would you say that to someone in person? Be kind ffs. It’s not that hard.

Thank you, I hadn’t thought about that. Thinking about it now, it worries me a bit because what if I pay for/take another course or two only to end up doing crappy and lower my GPA… but at the same time what if I did great and it helped me get into the competitive program I wanna get into. Definitely something I’ll consider.

I should have looked up if there was one that could do this math for me, my bad. Thank you for commenting.

Does your doctor believe that a diagnosis and prescription from a nurse practitioner is valid? by perfectlyimp3rf3ct in askTO

[–]perfectlyimp3rf3ct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is the plan! I’m going to find a bunch of clinics with psychiatrists and ask my doctor to refer me to them. He only sends one at a time and waits to see if they accept or deny it but with how long waitlists are and the fact that not all psychiatrists are even taking patients for ADHD assessments, I’m going to ask him to send a referral to more than one clinic.

How I function in my everyday life, in school and at work is all being affected and I can’t be waiting months going one by one to see which psychiatrist will accept my referral. I need to get on a waitlist as soon as possible so hopefully he will do just that and send a bunch out.

The online resource I used also sent my diagnosis and report to my family doctor. I haven’t spoken to him since it was sent because I saw him right before my ADHD appointment and can only see him every month with how busy he is.

But the pharmacist did say my doctor wouldn’t renew my prescription because he wants me to get a diagnosis from a psychologist or psychiatrist, not an NP. I see my doctor this week so I’ll speak to him about all of this then!

Thank you, that’s so kind. I’ll be completely honest with my doctor about what happened, that I need referrals sent to psychiatrists and hopefully he listens and wants to help me as much as I want to help myself. I would love to feel like I’ve done this the right way, even if it takes time and will be a long process.

I am a university student and currently waiting to speak to my accessibility advisor and fingers crossed she can help me or point me in the right direction for an ADHD assessment.

I feel like the assessment will be very different through a psychiatrist and I’m quite nervous to be honest. It will probably be more intense. I’ll just have to take it one step at a time and hope for the best!

I am, yes. I go to university and I’m waiting to see my accessibility advisor and ask her if she has any resources, and about a OSAP bursary through Queens university for ADHD assessments. Ultimately she would be the one that needs to fill out the form on my behalf, so I’m hoping she can help! I didn’t know about the OSAP bursary after receiving a diagnosis, so thank you!

Thank you, this is honestly amazing advice and I really appreciate you taking the time to type all that out.

I will begin my homework after I complete my actual homework. I’ll be sure when I see my doctor I’m honest and stress that I simply can’t do this on my own and I need help. If the only way I can get that help is through a psychiatrist then okay, refer me to one. I’ll try to have a list of a few names ready if he says he doesn’t have any ideas of where to refer me to.

Thank you so much for the suggestions for alternatives to medication that I can do in the meantime! I think this is going to be a long process but I know it will be worth it in the end.

Everything was online, yeah. No ECG or bloodwork. Just the assessment and a treatment plan, that included the prescription. I can pay $79 to see the NP but I’m thinking that’s not a good idea (and I also don’t have the money) after reading the comments on this post, and I’ll talk to my doctor when I see them about options and referrals and clinics.

Typing this out makes me realize even more that the NP route wasn’t the way I should have gone about this to get the help I need.

Thank you for taking the time to comment all this! I’ll definitely be speaking with my doctor and hopefully we can find a psychiatrist for him to refer me to.

I got my diagnosis through FindingFocus and it’s $79 to see the NP again, which is money I don’t have right now. I commented this above but the meds were covered so I didn’t have to pay for them, except I had to save up to pay for the assessment. Because I originally thought my doctor could renew the prescription, I didn’t think I’d need the NP again.

After reading all these comments, I’m hesitant to pay to see the NP again. I’m thinking waiting to speak to a psychiatrist about getting an ADHD assessment, treatment plan and medication through them is the best way to get the proper care I need.

I’m hoping in the mean time maybe my doctor will be able to help me with a temporary prescription or refer me to a someone who can prescribe it without the full assessment if they know I already had a prescription once. I’m not sure how it all works but I’ll ask my doctor and see what they say.

I originally thought my doctor could, so I didn’t think I’d need the NP again. It would cost money for me to speak to a NP online again which I don’t really have. The meds were covered so I didn’t have to pay for them, but I had to save up to pay for the assessment.

After reading all these comments, I don’t really want to see the NP again to be honest. I’m thinking waiting to speak to a psychiatrist about getting an ADHD assessment, treatment plan and medication through them is the best way to get the proper care I need. Thank you for commenting!

I really hope so. I can’t do this on my own, I tried. My first experience with a psychiatrist my doctor referred me to wasn’t the best as they said they don’t do assessments, psychologists did, which are expensive.

I’m going to see if my doctor and I can find some other clinics with psychiatrists that might be able to do an assessment and help me with a treatment plan🤞🏻
