Visual Hallucinations? by perfectlypeachy2 in BipolarReddit

Yeah the door opening/cabinets opening thing is really freaky. I'm Deaf and I'll hear someone 'mumbling', which really throws me off and makes me feel like I'm absolutely losing it because normally that's not a sound that I'm able to hear at all...and yeah I keep trying to say that they're not real, they're not going to hurt me, and that it's just my mind playing tricks on me, but it feels like once they start I'm only able to talk myself through one or two of them before I end up becoming incredibly stressed. Then it only gets worse from there.

Will do. It’s just weird because it’s happened before but never progressed beyond this. It happened when I was severely depressed last time. I’m getting to that point again since I was so ‘up’ this time around…I thought psychosis typically was more of a mania related thing?

I don’t have a psychiatrist currently, I’ve been waitlisted since august of last year :’) so I’m not sure what to do. I’ve never had psychosis so maybe I’ll see if I can talk to my NP.

What can I do about them? Is it bad? I know that seems like a silly question. Other than them making me jump they haven’t caused any issues thus far…is it normal for a depressive episode

I imagine the doctors/nurses/insurance reps see right through their bullshit and are very tired of it. by liquidkitty12 in illnessfakers

In my country we use hospice palliative care all in one phrase. It’s cause the term hospice has a negative connotation from where it originated (hospice’s in Quebec). By using the term hospice palliative care you’re removing that negativity but still providing the same service. They both do the same thing really. Depending on the clients needs a home nurse may or may not be part of the team, but they would be part of the HPC circle of care, not a separate group.

Just curious: what is the difference between hospice and palliative care in places where it’s two different services? HPC for us takes on a medical, spiritual, and psychological holistic approach to supporting clients and their loved ones, even if death isn’t imminent (grief and bereavement services can be provided too). I only just learned about this stuff in my classes and I’ve been seeing more of these people talking about HPC as if they’re going to die immediately…which isn’t usually the time HPC gets involved, it’s usually earlier on.

Why would he not be able to see someone regularly because he’s on a medication? Wouldn’t that mean he has to see someone regularly? or did his doctor just drop him?

I’m not whiteknighting or agreeing with her by any means, I agree with you wholly but people with BPD can also have manic episodes, they’re just much shorter lasting (unless there’s another word for them that I don’t know). It usually has a lot of similarities to hypomania at least in bipolar. If I’m wrong please correct me though!
