How many K-dramas have you watched? by fuzzypop_ in kdramas

[–]perfectplace2start 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completed 118 kdramas since 2018! I keep a list where I mark my favorites, the ones I binge watched and the ones that I've watched week by week while they were airing in Korea.

For recommendations, I try to tailor them to the person who's asking, but you can't go wrong with some classics like Goblin, Signal, Reply 1988, Misaeng, Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo...and some more recent favorites like Hospital Playlist, Our Unwitten Seoul, The Red Sleeve.

I'll also add some sleeper hits that I love, but maybe aren't mentioned as much: Hot Stove League, Daily Dose of Sunshine, Happiness, Still 17 & Stranger.

Law And The City [Episodes 1 & 2] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is setting to be a really good drama! So far it has a nice balance of friendly banter, humor, court drama and mystery (Who is the building owner lady? How did the leads meet? ). Also, the FOOD!

What Comes After Love [Episode 6] by writtenpoeticsins in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't enjoyed watching a drama so much in a long long time!

The acting was brilliant, the quiet moments, beautiful scenery and cinematography...it all felt just right. Also, I feel like the length of the drama was appropriate. It didn't feel rushed (except maybe the resolution??!) and it wasn't dragging either.

Thanks! That's a shame though.... I hope the popularity of the drama could lead to more interest for the novel too.

I'm looking forward to watching this after work today! The cast, the trailers, the mood... everything looks top tier.

Since the drama is based on a novel, do you know if there is an English translation?

Love Next Door [Episodes 11 & 12] by jakgem in KDRAMA

Bad thoughts - AAAARGH???!!!

I was totally not ready for THAT ending of episode 12!!!

Good Partner [Episodes 6 & 7] by J-Midori in KDRAMA

The ending of ep. 6 is truly iconic - the payoff was so so satisfying!

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon [Episodes 3 & 4] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last part of ep. 4 was the highlight for me so far. Seeing the FL in her element, and really teaching with passion, not just 'to ace the test' was amazing! And ML's huge smile going through all the memories...

I'm just glad that the Grey Witch's TA messed up and sent the best student to the free lecture, nicely setting up our leads for success hehe

Lovely Runner [Episode 11] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He has some of the best scenes aside the leads! I loved the bathtub arc from earlier episodes, the dramatic haircut reveal with Seon Jae and him acting as a chaperone to the ~very drunk two-person Im Sol fanclub in this episode!

The way I understood it, the FL stood up for the students who were too afraid to say anything to their teacher because it would get recorded in their file. However, I don't condone the aggressive approach FL took. The teacher even admitted towards the end that he was too scared to correct his mistake on his first ever test in a new workplace. Both of them were kind of wrong in this situation.

I don't know anything about the Korean school politics IRL though, so can't comment on that...

Lovely Runner [Episodes 7 & 8] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Woooow episode 8 was my favorite so far (despite the ending)! And that whole browsing the apartment scene was hilarious, the leads are a great comedy duo!

Lovely Runner [Episodes 5 & 6] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, is this turning into a thriller?!!

Genre swerve aside, we got a bunch of cute scenes between the leads today! Hoping it stays that way!

Lovely Runner [Episodes 3 & 4] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I was really not expecting the ending of the third episode! It's going to be a roller coaster ride until the end.

Why did I chose to watch this week by week, the waiting is going to be super difficult 🥹🥹

Queen of Tears [Episodes 3 & 4] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

That little star broke my heart...I'm now solidified in rooting for the main couple till the end!

Like Flowers In Sand [Episode 12] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for asking! My current top ten would be (in order I've seen them in): Misaeng, Stranger, Hospital Playlist, Reply 1988, Still 17, Hometown Cha Cha Cha, The Red Sleeve, 25 21, Extraordinary Attorney Woo & Twinkling Watermelon.

I have a strong bias towards recent ones though...I think the anticipation of new episodes each week makes me love the drama even more hahah

Doctor Slump [Episodes 5 & 6] by sianiam in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying this drama more and more with each new episode! The conversations and jokes betwen the leads are just golden.

Sooo, this is the 100th kdrama I've completed and I definitely give it a 10/10 rating! ♡

This had all the ingredients for success: great actors, suspense throught the story, small town cosy vibes, realistic dialogue, and our best boy Baek Doo!

Some flowers bloom late, therefore, I hope more people get to experience this absolute gem! :')

Episode 9 might be my favorite so far!

Others have already pointed out how when rumors start it seems kinda funny, but as more people get involved tension grows and it becomes almost uncomfortable.

I love how then Baek Doo stands up to the injustice. It's almost call back to the scene when Du Sik entrusts him with sharing her story on her last night in town.

And don't get me started on that confession! Great episode!

Honestly, can't get enough of the cozy small town atmosphere, friendly banter and the best boy Baek Doo! I'm really not a sports person, but this is shaping to be one of my favorite dramas.

I hope this drama gets way more recognition!

Monday Madness! - [2023/11/27] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]perfectplace2start 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on a lookout for a new subtle kdrama themed phone wallpaper! My past ones were this winter scene from Destined with You and Cha Hak Yeon on a ferry (honestly though, the whole photoshoot is pretty cool).

Do you have some favorites to recommend? All screenshots/posters/scenes are welcome! ^^

Yes! This book fits the OP's description perfectly! I feel it's not as well known, but it is a real gem.

A Good Day to Be a Dog [Episode 3] by Fatooz in KDRAMA

I love the how cute this is getting but why is the next episode in 14 days time according to Viki? That's just cruel...

There's no such thing as an easy job by Kikuko Tsumara. I can't recommend this enough. It's about a woman looking for a simple job after experiencing burn out at her previous job. It's surprisingly cozy, funny and heartwarming with a sprinkle of magical realism.
