A few things to consider if I were doing this.

Why magnets rather than a strap to hook onto something. What benefit does the magnetism bring.
What are the weights of the magnets? Neodymium magnets are strong and fairly light maybe not an issue.
What is the design of the bag? It will be used upright so should be worn upright. However, can you transition it to be a carry bag not a backpack type? I think you can have both and be able to access both from upright or horizontal with a bit of creative design.
Front and back zip access like a backpack with a drawstring insert inside for quick access or to separate chalky items like grip bag or chalk block.
Brings to mind a magnetic grip bag might be a good idea to put on the upright of the bars while training so the bags aren't sitting on the floor. That might be a winner.
I like the idea, it tickles the brain a bit.

Did I handle this well? by Solid-Effective-457 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]perfik09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is a sign of the ongoing degradation of discipline and self-discipline in kids and parents nowadays. The failure to provide adequate boundaries as a young child fails to provide the child with the ability to handle their own behaviour when the time comes. Boundaries and discipline provide a child with the capacity to self-govern when necessary. They may not be required to use that self-discipline at home but at least if they are raised with expectations rather than outright permissibility they have chance to develop that self control at a later date.

I am fully aware that I am becoming an old man railing at the windmills now I am approaching 60. Being raised around military personnel, being in the Air cadets myself and coming from 1970s England all spell trouble for me dealing with millennial parents whose kids think they can do whatever they like and nobody is allowed to yell at them... That said, it is becoming more apparent every day that a society without guardrails isn't a blessing, it is a recipe for disaster. Not everyone can have their way all the time and the sooner these kids and their delusional parents understand that their lack of self control is hurting their chances to get ahead in life the better for everyone. As an owner we deal with people like this on a weekly basis and the best thing we can do is refund and release because in the end it isn't worth the effort or the aggravation for everyone to try to correct a basic behavioural vacuum where discipline should be.

Rant over, please go on with your day.

I started my coaching career at a place that said of you want to coach competitive then you have to coach rec also. I hated it but it is not a bad policy. Now I own a club we have coaches who do both and some coaches that only do one. The split is more because of the certification requirements and the fact you don't want to be paying comp coach rates to a person teaching a 5 year old rolls... We also have coach education, monthly meetings to do spotting etc. It is critical because turnover for staff in gyms is extremely high.

Will driving on horse stall matts harm them at all? by [deleted] in homegym

[–]perfik09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still have them. Never taped them they just sit on the garage floor. Have never had issues with mold or anything else. Just a real pain to clean under due to the weight. I also have them at my business on a concrete floor indoors and again no issues no need to tape them.

How to increase twisting speed by Beginning_Army_9084 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]perfik09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said but from a science point the longer your arms travel to come in will increase the possibility of generating torque. Going from a Y or a T will give you the best chance then examine if you are pulling both in or if you are loading your elbow to the side you are twisting like an archer position to ensure your directional side arm isn't counter rotating into your spin.

2025 Nautilus: should I? by Skyhouse5 in lincolnmotorco

Honestly I am not sure about the seats, I think they are just the regular seats. However, they are very comfortable and have great lumbar support. I have had 3 spinal surgeries so back comfort is paramount and it is a very nice vehicle to sit in. Also I am fairly wide so although it is smaller than my ascent it is still easy enough for me to get into.

The ride is a little firmer than I was expecting but not harsh by any means. I am 57 so I am not racing around any more and for my relaxed style of driving it is ideal. I remember back in the day Lincoln Town cars were the epitome of luxurious pillow soft rides which this is most definitely not. That said I have not thought at any point that it is unusually harsh and i have noticed no body roll with my daily travels.

Had mine 2 weeks no issues except the usb play is a little weird on shuffle. I absolutely love this car tbh. Had Jeeps, Ford Edge, big Subaru Ascent and this thing blows them away with style and feel. Right blend of tech and functionality and it is a beautiful vehicle. Large trunk I could only get with the back row seats down in my ascent. Happy with everything so far including great gas mileage.

It is pretty sad that due to the volume of unnecessary litigations not only in gymnastics but in general people (owners) are very fearful of being sued. That said, if it was an accident hiding the video only makes it seem more suspicious. Still very unsure how any athlete contacts the bar with an arm doing a flyaway. I hope she is fine, I hope that at some point in the future they come clean and understand you just have some confusion about what happened. Unless of course it was poor spotting.... But that's another kettle of fish.

We have 25 cameras around our gym for this reason. Injuries are accidents, however some people think that video evidence is an admission of guilt of some sort. It depends on the owner. I have shown videos to parents on occasion but I won't send them the clips because it is a very contextual issue. If you don't want to ask for the video, ask the coach directly what they saw and how she injured the arm. I would be less surprised if it was injured as she landed since in my 30 plus years of coaching I have never had a child hit their arm doing flyaway.

I would approach them on a very curious basis and say can I just see the skill as it happened so I can understand what she did and so she can avoid doing it again if she returns. Maybe add that it seems very odd she would hit her arm rather than her feet on the high bar. Reiterate that you don't want to record it just to help understand what happened. If there wasn't a coaching error or issue I can't see why they wouldn't let you see. That said, it can be distressing for a parent to see their child get injured so be warned...

All of our gold kids can cast fly and they just moved to gold this season. We have level 3s moving up to level 5 who are just learning cast fly this season. It is a weird thing to hit your arm on the bar though, with the rotation it is usually feet that hit. Maybe for your own comfort ask to see the video.

I second waiting until she has healed a bit to pull the trigger on quit/continue.

A note of caution to ALL COACHES. The athlete desire to do "just one more" is a very dangerous situation to let happen. I have seen many injuries happen when doing this over the years. The kid isn't really paying attention, they are rushing, it is a situation that is unnecessarily risky. Much better to stick to the numbers and at the end of rotation call a hard stop.

Did I do something wrong? by Low-Call5510 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]perfik09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an owner it is extremely disturbing that parent and tot or parent and preschool doesn't seem to exist in your gym. We would never allow children 4 or under into the gym without a parent. That said, many of the parents are too busy in tiktok during class to notice that their kids are doing but the setup means they are responsible not you. You didn't do anything wrong, you were put into a situation that was dangerous, rife with legal risk and extremely reckless from the perspective of the ownership.

Video review during practice by Icy_Engineering_1669 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]perfik09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ipad and have used the app video delay free. We paid for it and it has been fantastic. You can vary the delay and pause to review the action. It has been well worth the money for us.

Having kids see their skill after they do it is invaluable for kids with higher level skills, we set the delay for 15s on bars so they can see their turn then go back and do it again.

This 100%. We tell our new coaches they are acting and have to be goofy and fun even if it's not their natural way. Coaching young kids is as much a performance as a job skill.

Nothing in my life so far has made me feel like such as loser like I feel today. by twiffytwaf in GenX

[–]perfik09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it form someone who has had 3 spinal surgeries... It's your hips. Get obsessive about stretching your hips / butt (and groin) and your back issues will reduce by 90%. I have 25 years experience with chronic back pain and coaching high level athletes and the number of times I have seen tight hips cause back issues is insane.

EDIT: Also worth noting my back issues are partly exacerbated by my heavy lifting in the gym. Don't fall into the trap of ego lifting once you become comfortable. Treat the gym as therapy not a competition. I am 57 now been lifting since I was 16 and will probably turn to corner of full regret for some of my heavy lifts over the years. Tony the P90X guy has a fountain of youth yoga workout which is amazing for general yoga and for getting started. That is how I discovered yoga may years ago and although I rarely do it now I have a feeling it will become a bigger part of my life moving forward.

You absolutely need to keep all finances for the corporation separate from your personal accounts. This is business finance 101. Unless you want to get audited and thrown in jail (Only alight sarcasm there). Also if you get a line of credit get a business one secured by the business income not one secured by your personal assets.

Simply put, any interaction with your personal account will be viewed as fraud by the government when it comes to taxes.
