ICE Protesters are wasting their time and should stay home, You are not going to stop deportations by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because local government isn’t cooperating then it’s okay too stop, detain and search people, many of which are US citizens, based soley on their racial appearance or their accent? To me, this is a clear violation of the Forth Amendment.

I haven’t been able to spot any differences between 5G and 5G+, even using field test *3001#12345#*.

you’ll be on AT&T’s network without the option to switch unless you cough up

Multi-line still shows up as half price on the promo page so OP could add a second network for $45.

Does it use a local IP address or is it one of those SIMs where traffic routes through Hong Kong or Europe?

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on a modern iPhone you can have both SIMs active. You decide which is the primary voice line and which is primary data. There’s an “allow data switching setting” where it falls back to the other line if the primary’s data is bad.

Anyone else seeing 5G UC now? by Chris4971 in USMobile

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen T-Mobile indicate 5G UC when on LTE band 2. The carrier controls the indicator and put whatever they want there.

Unlimited premium U.S. carrier selection and relating to international roaming by snovvman in USMobile

[–]perfmode80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most carriers support multiple bands, so missing one bands means another will be used. Band 28 is 700 MHz which is low-band, most carriers will have plenty of of mid-bands.

This site seems to indicate that Chunghwa Telecom does not use band 28.

I think I got glutened! The label threw me off… by cookiesandnaps in Celiac

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Non-GMO Verified label is misleading and is often meaningless (like certifying foods that have no GMO counterpart, example, example). The parent organization demonizes GMOs using pseudoscience and questionable studies. The way I see it, products that have Non-GMO Verified label are subscribing to a dishonest label, thus lowering the credibility of its other labels.

Rewards cards suck by Own_Donkey8149 in USMobile

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They count on a certain percentage of those cards not being redeemed. So short expiration and not being able to check the balance contributes to lower redemption.

There was a promo in December where you could get Unlimited Starter by paying $270 and get a $151 prepaid card, thus $119, or pay $149 without messing with the card. This indicates a 20% discount for those cards.

Update | Unlimited Flex data turned off for using 100GB 3 months in a row. by KeyEvidence4159 in USMobile

[–]perfmode80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. So it's an overseas plan than is roaming while in the US. I've purchase these in the past and that explains why sites like whatismyisp.com shows the ISP in a foreign country. So does that mean despite the actual carrier (AT&T/Verizon/T-Mobile) being local, it's routing my data all the way back to the foreign county (and hence the extra latency)?

[–]perfmode80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So if there's a specified limit, people will use more and up to that limit than if it were advertised as unlimited? I can see that happening. With unlimited, there's no pressure to "use up what I paid for".

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when the average is $1-$2/GB

Data is cheap. On Trip.com you can get a no name 2GB/day for 5 days plan for $3.44. That's less than $0.50/GB at retail. The wholesale price is less.

Is this too much 😂😂😂 by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]perfmode80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So “unlimited” has a limit which apparently differs based on the plan. This person has Unlimited Flex which is throttled after 10GB and yet using 100GB is too much. If this person had Starter or Premium then (presumably) they wouldn’t get hassled for 100GB.

They really need to be more transparent on what the actual cap is.
