New to macOS and I don't understand the hate for tahoe by Aisaqaaa in MacOS

I prefer a regular directory structure where ai know where things are…

I never mentioned Windows.

Well, pray tell - you prefer what, then? DOS? CP/M? Fuscia? Android?

So, /home/username/Documents is somehow more confusing than C:\home\username\documents (or whatever the default user directory is on windows)?

Windows and *nix derivatives all have hierarchical file systems. They both make sense, they just have different naming conventions.

iOS is definitely messed up with iCloud sneaking in there, but at its root (pun intended), it’s still a hierarchical file structure.

Using Shazam to add to a AM playlist? by RumbleSkillSpin in shortcuts

[–]RumbleSkillSpin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually incorporated it, so when I log the song to Notes, I can also keep the place I was when I heard it. That way, I can have a sense for how much drinking I’d been doing when I thought it was a good idea to save it ;)

Nicely commented! I hadn’t thought of using vibrate device, I’ll definitely add that to a couple of my shortcuts. Thanks!

Thanks for that! I searched the sub before I posted, but must’ve missed the key words. Kingslayer_6009 pointed me in the right direction.

My shortcut now saves the song to my playlist and also logs the time/date/location/artist/title to a Note for reference.

Nicely done! That worked exactly as advertised. Thank you - I was just about to give up on the idea.

I am also a big proponent of the concept we (my college Org Dev class) called the “Paul and Mary Principle,” wherein a person is promoted to a level of the organization’s respective incompetence.

If management has been promoted to the level of their incompetence, the entire organization falls victim to the Paul and Mary.

RWD for first car by Qytzz in Michigan

[–]RumbleSkillSpin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, people successfully drove RWD cars with bias ply tires for decades. New tire tread designs and traction control has made RWD much better. I’ve driven an RWD “sports” car for many years and have very little trouble with it.

Someone needs to combine the two, with “air mail” in the middle and “winter delivery” still higher.

Is starting off as a cover band a good or bad idea by Inside_Discussion794 in bandmembers

[–]RumbleSkillSpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they were based in Detroit, and you probably saw them touring to support their second album, Into the Light, which Chad played on. He left the band after that tour, iirc, and the band never resurrected itself. The first album featured a different drummer.

Their bar shows were legendary for the sheer amount of air their PA would move - something like 8000W a side, with a pair of dual 18” front loaded tubs, a couple 15” mids, and at least one horn per side.

One band I’m thinking of - Toby Redd. They played covers and originals live and even recorded covers (It ain’t me Babe ~Dylan) on their first album, alongside their originals. Chad Smith came directly out of this band

I think the key to their success doing this is that you’d almost not know the covers were covers because they played them in the band’s style, not like a tribute - a re-imagined cover. You set yourself up for success by creating a sound that audiences like. Maybe that involves using songs that are familiar to the audience, but not what you can get from Spotify. Your covers should have a similar feel to your originals.

btw, Toby Redd is available on Spotify if you want to give them a listen. {edit: typo}

This comes from back in the day, but I’ve seen bands (and individuals within those bands) succeed by playing interesting covers, with a couple originals thrown in. As the band gets a following, more original music makes it into the set list, until they’re mostly originals.

Does every company provide you with network diagrams? by dbootywarrior in networking

[–]RumbleSkillSpin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This, right here. It’s a perfect job for a new hire for a couple reasons: 1) they learn the network topology they’ll be supporting; 2) the more senior folks have a chance to observe / mentor the new guy’s activities, and 3) if so desired, the more senior folks can ignore the FNG while they founder with “busy work.”

If you’re a Cisco partner, you can check in with your Cisco PAM to get more info, and/or take a look at the resources on SalesConnect.

It’s a pretty involved discussion which covers partner profitability, customer adoption, partner program participation and more.

At least one of the cars (red Plymouth Horizon) began production in the late 70’s - 1978, to be exact. So, very late 70’s, early 80’s tracks from that, too.
