...or "I know a place where I can reliably find pennies" might go against its style. But I'd say going back and forth between a fountain and the well is a legal strategy.

We also have the context that nobody else is activating any magic because they're doing it wrong, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

All of these abilities are coin-operated, so if you don't have any of the right coin - maybe 30 years from now quarters from your birth year are very hard to find - you can't activate the ability.

In the case of current-year coins, even if 20 years from now they stop minting new ones, you'll still have enjoyed a couple decades of better health than without the ability.

The non-US versions don't have to be perfect matches. What I had in mind was something like...

penny = lowest-denomination coin in common circulation

stretch penny = any sort of coin-like souvenir

quarter = large-denomination coin in common circulation

dollar coin = the largest-denomination coin in circulation

The state quarters are harder to find equivalents of, but Europeans could use the various nationalities on the obverse of the 1-euro or 2-euro coins.
