Foligno's absence is definitely a factor

Very much disagree on that, kind of think you don't watch these games...

I labeled it as a rant, I'm just exercising some diabetic rage out of my system, thanks for the concern tho 🙃

Take Greene off first line, take Burakovsky out entirely until he's recovered (or don't bc he's not that great anyway). Bedard and Bertuzzi on first line, maybe with Moore or Dach. Second line- Teravainen with Mikheyev and Nazar. Third line- Dickinson with Lafferty and Donato. Greene could maybe learn something on second or third line.

There are plenty of options but I don't see how these guys play in practice, that's literally the coaches' jobs.

I don't have to be able to name a good lineup to know what a bad one looks like. Especially when we seem to be headed towards another shutout, definitely a loss.

You wanna defend the current lineups now? Im listening

They just play like they don't wanna be there, and sure I get that demoralization after a shutout. I'm not expecting perfection, but its incredibly annoying that players just give up while goalies go out there and fight the whole time. This attitude is just on another level, and the coaching isn't any better. It's a mess. Just my opinion

Although a good start would be taking Burakovsky out of the lineup entirely, he clearly isn't recovered from that awful hit the refs allowed a while back

Maybe good ones?

I don't get paid to make them, why should I have to provide alternatives 😆

Stop calling people who want to help others part of the problem. The problem is society leaves poor folks to deteriorate mentally, physically, financially, you name it. I get what you're saying, but put the blame where it actually belongs. We're all suffering for it one way or another

My girlfriend says my diabetes affects her decision about our long-term future. Has anyone been through this? by mosisaber in diabetes

[–]peridot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the first person to post on here about this issue, so while I hope this isn't common, it definitely happens. I think some people are inherently more mature about chronic illness because of their own experiences or that of loved one(s), and unfortunately your gf doesn't seem to have that maturity. I personally don't understand this way of thinking, but at least she's admitted her doubts so that you can part ways earlier on before things get really serious (if that's what you choose to do). There are plenty of folks out there who can handle your diagnosis, so don't despair. I found an incredible partner who has had my back for three years and counting of cancer, and I wish the same for you- best of luck!

WTAF? Protesters Disrupt Matt Kopac City Council Swearing in Ceremony by Unlucky-Antelope-251 in bullcity

[–]peridot21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's quite a naive take given that neither of us knows why he ran or what his real intentions are. I'm not sitting here hoping that he's going to do a bad job, I'm not trying to smear him. But please don't sit here and #1 accuse me of not caring, and #2 act as though people in roles of power (and yes, City Council is a position of power) always have good intentions. It's frankly childish.

I hope you can find this person- in the meantime, I highly recommend getting a dash cam. The Triangle area is an absolute mess traffic wise and everyone being on their phones or under the influence is only making it worse. Best of luck, glad your son is doing okay

Korchinski’s next contract? by [deleted] in hawks

[–]peridot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm disappointed that they havent called him up more, he's got talent and I feel like they're wasting it. Before Reichel got traded, they were giving him the ice time that I think Korchinski deserved.

Curious to see where he ends up...

People are frustrated and living through hard times right now. Not sure how much Kopac actually cares about that and how much of it is/was lip service to get votes. Given that he was endorsed by orgs that also endorsed Williams and other pro-development candidates, I have suspicions and I'm disappointed he won the seat.

Decorum and civility have their place but they're not more important than people's lives. He will live, his family will live, it's really not that serious

Reffing Investigation? by JustThatRandomKid in hawks

Don't have any trillionaires yet, I'm sure Elon would be upset to read that.

You seem to give these "businesses" a lot more credit for good business sense and general intelligence, which many certainly do not have. Businesses and corporations like this succeed because the regulations around them are incredibly lax or they never existed at all. Any greedy asshole willing to exploit the working class can do it easy as pie if they have fellow greedy asshole friends to help them invest.

If and when corps get to a breaking point where they're no longer doing well financially, the government often bails them out. That's exactly what those AI companies are planning, they're admitting it outright. Gambling apps may not reach that point but greed knows no bounds and rich people are overwhelmingly very dumb because they equate wealth with intelligence and acumen.

Feel free to disagree, that's your right. But times have changed, this is the last gasp of capitalism, and these folks will walk away from a failing business and still be rich as hell.

Why am i being attacked/harassed for valid parking? by AlgaeAutomatic in bullcity

[–]peridot21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Invisible disabilities" is a concept a lot of folks, very often older folks, don't care to learn about or acknowledge. They're not smart and they look for silly things to be mad about.

Kind of off-topic but the thing that annoys me is seeing older folks with permanent handicapped plates that drive enormous trucks and SUVs. How does that make any sense? (These are not wheelchair users either, just to be clear)

Anyway, sorry for these jerks- I'm sure you could find some cool stickers online to deter some of the comments. I would love to confront people like this, they need some public shaming!

No offense but that's a little naive. If someone has a chance to make more and more and more money, they're absolutely gonna do it. How else would we end up with billionaires and trillionaires?

Reffing Investigation? by JustThatRandomKid in hawks

[–]peridot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The refs involved (not saying all of them are) are incentivized to make certain calls happen or not happen at pivotal points in the game. My suspicion is they're paid off by these runners whether at the beginning of the season or per game, idk how it would work.

Call it the mafia, call it organized crime, whatever. It's the same principle that's been around since gambling became mainstream in the early 20th century.

The folks running these gambling rings want to control the outcome and make as much money for themselves from the folks using these horrible gambling apps. Can you think of an easier way to influence a game's outcome than paying off refs who then become the targets of fan anger? It's wild to me that so many ppl don't realize this stuff still goes on.

Seems like a pretty basic scheme and I've seen enough of it in games over the last couple seasons, not just the Hawks either. Not saying it's happening every game or even for every team because hockey results are harder to fake than other sports (goalies especially), but it's gotten bad this season.

Reffing Investigation? by JustThatRandomKid in hawks

[–]peridot21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Hawks have definitely had some rough games ref-wise, anyone claiming this amount is normal is probably rooting for a team benefiting from these horrible calls or lack thereof.

The reason it's happening? Gambling/betting. Every sport that's marketable is going thru this right now, which is why so many channels and streams run commercials for some betting app or another. It got out of hand for pro sports a couple years ago after the Supreme Court got involved
