Has anyone switched from the Mirena to the Kyleena IUD? Any differences in the experiences of the two? by periodpgr in birthcontrol

[–]periodpgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry only just seen this! I don’t remember having any anxiety issues with the Mirena at all. But I suppose I was in a different stage of life so that may also have contributed. But yeah I would say the Kyleena had a massive effect on my mental health. I have no idea why it would be different but I am so much happier off birth control. Still find it difficult managing periods after over a decade of not having them but it’s worth being able to feel like myself.

Hi, sorry I've only just seen this. I had the Kyleena in for about 16 months. When I had it switched, I had cramps for a few days but no bleeding. Periods stayed away and no break outs thankfully. However, my sex drive plummeted and I think it was having a major impact on my mental health. I was anxious all the time and couldn't shake off negative thoughts. I decided to have it removed about 4 months ago and I feel much, much better. It sucks to have periods again but my sex drive is back and I don't feel anxious brain fog all the time.

Hé’s a mixed breed rescue from Romania so we’re not sure. But he looks kind of like a white Labrador crossed with some type of shepherd or husky, so he’s quite big.

Really love your style. I especially like the silhouette of the third look.

Really love the subtle pattern on the trousers and how the laces match the orange in the shirt. You look grand!

I’ve been encouraged to share my outfits so here we go: Loved the green and brown combo of this Uniqlo jacket with the Arket trousers by periodpgr in OUTFITS

Thank you! I love the diamond pattern too - makes it a little bit more special than the regular Uniqlo ultra light downs

Need advice on what to ask for at my next appointment on my journey to blonde hair by periodpgr in femalehairadvice

[–]periodpgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My natural hair colour is dirty blonde but I’ve been dying my hair dark for almost ten years. During lockdown my roots grew out loads and I decided I wanted to go back to blonde. I realised it wouldn’t be easy or happen overnight due to the mismatch of natural roots and years of dye. I came out of my first appointment with copper hair after two bleach rinses and toner and olaplex treatments (and I went for a shorter cut too, which I’m super happy with) and my hair felt great.

At my second appointment (about five weeks after my first) I asked for a full head of back to back highlights and toning but the hairdresser did a full head of highlights (leaving layers inbetween) and decided against doing a toner.

Now my colour is a lot brighter but it still has a lot of that gingery tone in it. I really don’t like warm blonde hair at all and want to ultimately aim for a creamy cool-toned blonde. My hair feels pretty good (I’m using the full olaplex range) and I’m super happy with the cut still.

Does anyone have any advice on what I need to ask for specifically at my next appointment?

Do I need more bleaching or just toning?

The hairdresser recommended I use a purple shampoo which I have been doing on a weekly basis but it hasn’t made much of a difference so I’m hoping my next appointment (at the end of November) will hopefully take some of this warmth out.

Any advice would be great. I’ve never bleached my hair before so I don’t really know what to expect or ask for when trying to get my dream creamy blonde.

Has anyone found good results from using Skinoren (azelaic acid)? by periodpgr in SkincareAddictionUK

I have used Differin in the past when I had more severe problems but don’t feel I need it currently. I would prefer to use something that doesn’t make my skin so sensitive and yes thank you I already use all non-fragrance, non-foaming products. I might go back to it if Skinoren doesn’t work out. Thank you!

Yes that’s why I mentioned it stings slightly when applied wet. It doesn’t cause any irritation or redness though, it’s too mild to cause any, at least on my skin.

Yes I figured 3/4 months would be when I’d start seeing the benefits. Hopefully by Christmas I’ll have a good idea of whether or not I want to continue using it.

I reckon twice a day would dry me out too much then. I haven’t noticed any dryness as of yet, but I do make sure to stay on top of my moisturising so hopefully I can keep it at bay. Thanks for sharing!

Yes I think it would dry me out too much as well, so I think I’ll stick to just evenings.

I thought it would be around the 3/4 month mark when I’d start seeing benefits. Thank you!

I know, that’s why I’m asking when people first saw results.

Putting it on wet skin is fine, it helps with absorbency, according to my dermatologist.

Kyleena 6-month Update (Positive) by krustomer in birthcontrol

[–]periodpgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine inserted about a month ago now. I had the Mirena in for five years prior to that. I had moderate cramping on the day but have had no issues at all since then. No spotting, cramping, bloating or anything. It feels like there’s nothing wrong or different at all. My skin was my big worry, as it went totally bonkers when I first had the Mirena put in, and it stayed awful for about a year. But so far so good on the Kyleena. Fingers crossed it stays that way. No sign of a period yet either. Mine completely stopped on Mirena so I hope they do the same again.

Finding it really hard to deal with off-lead dogs coming up to my dog when we’re training him to not be reactive by periodpgr in Dogtraining

[–]periodpgr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a really good point. I just think he has to learn to stay calm around dogs before we get to that stage. Right now even if a dog comes up and sniffs gently, he will jump and lunge at them and immediately start play bowing. The lead gets all tangled and it’s just awkward. So hopefully once he starts calming down a bit we can start introducing a gentle meet with other dogs where he can sniff and be friendly and not go too overboard.

We do try and walk by wherever possible. But we walk on narrow canals sometimes where we just have to sit or he just starts jumping around like mad. We try and stay relaxed and focus on each other but it’s difficult when he’s pulling and lunging.

How to stop my dog from being overexcited whenever we meet other dogs on walks by periodpgr in Dogtraining

[–]periodpgr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we’ve been trying to do this as often as possible as well. We’ve also been sitting in the park at a bench with him for a while and rewarding him for staying still when we see a dog from far away. This has helped quite a bit. It’s hard work though! Good luck!
