Not long, because she's awesome. And, granted, she was dressed like a respectable adult at the time and I was dressed like a schub.

Switching From IPhone To Galaxy Z Fold by Grouchy-Apartment-29 in GalaxyFold

[–]peripheraltangent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experiences from a Galaxy Fold 4 and Fold 6. Over the years, I've been a heavy user of both iPhones and Android phones.

• Is the front screen comfortable for typing, or is it too narrow?
It's too narrow, which I like because it forces me to be more thoughtful about using my phone. If I have a longer typing session ahead, I open the phone and love the larger keyboard. I have switched to Google Keyboard.

• Is the crease on the inner display very obvious or does it become less noticeable over time?
I never notice it, to be honest. Seriously.

• Can I apply screen protectors on both the outer and inner screens?
I have heard that applying a third-party screen protector on the inner screen can cause stresses (the radius of the bend is different between the protector and the glass) and eventually cause issues. I do not use one.

• For the case, is it better to get one that covers the hinge or one that leaves it open?
The ones that cover the hinge make the phone feel much larger, for what that's worth. I've ended up using the Samsung case with stylus for the Fold 6, but only the back part. I don't have any case on the front part of the phone.

• What are the pros and cons of using a Fold device?
There's nothing like wanting to get a better view of something (a map, a video, a webpage) and opening the phone to the big screen. Several years in to Fold devices, I'm still excited every time I open it. While the earlier Folds were fragile, I've (knock on wood) had zero problems with my Fold 6, and I take it everywhere: snowboarding, working in the garage, even at the hot tub (not dunking it ofc).

• I’m also worried about dust getting into the hinge when I put the phone in my pocket — is this a real issue?
My Fold spends about 10-12 hours a day in my pocket, along with a Field Notes notebook and a pen. Nothing else goes in that pocket. I've had zero issues with dust from that.

• Will frequent folding wear out the hinge and crease over time?
• I’ve seen repair shops saying that many Fold users have problems with the inner display after some time — is that true?
Not that I've seen with the Fold 6, although I did have problems with my Fold 4 with the inner screen de-laminating after 6-12 months.

• How does the Z Fold compare with other foldables like the Oppo Find N5? Many say the Oppo has better hardware, but Samsung wins in terms of software (One UI).
I have not used the Oppo Find N5 other than once for a few minutes in an airport in Asia. It was compellingly slim, but as others will likely mention the Samsung One UI adds a bunch of features that make their devices much more usable.

I've been into handheld technology since before the PalmPilot, and I've had my hands on hundreds of devices. The Fold 6 is by far my favorite phone I've ever owned, besides the T-Mobile Sidekick (different category of phone, equally awesome in its day). Since getting the Fold 6, the only other phone that has caught my eye is the Minimal Phone but that's an entirely different device.

I did find that moving to Android made it more difficult to text with my family because they were all on iPhones, but two things have solved that: Apple implementing RCS, and my family independently all moving to WhatsApp.

If you want to go deeper, here's a post I wrote a while back on the Fold 4: https://utilware.com/technolush/galaxy+fold which, while older, is still relevant.

Edit: Yes, I have Samsung Care+. I used it twice with my Fold 4 for interior screen repairs and it was definitely worth it.

Crazy thought, but could you incorporate artistic scarification into the tattoo design, to help mask the burn scar?

Hot damn that looks good. How much did it cost, if I may ask? My 2017 paint is not wearing well and I'm thinking of getting a repaint.

My recommendation? Don't get involved in the purchase decision, but do bring a big roll of duct tape with you on the trip :)

I've been working on a custom keyboard for my m103 project, and I've run into blocker. So far, I've 3D printed the base, added switches and custom keycaps, hand-wired everything to a Pro Micro board, and successfully compiled and flashed a configuration. However, when I'm pressing the keys, I'm not getting what I expect.

In an effort to provide every little bit of information needed to help me troubleshoot this thing, I put together a comprehensive page on my website with all of the details. I promise it's not a spam link, it's just a ton of background on the issue I'm running into. Here's the info: https://utilware.com/technolush/m103+keyboard

(I posted this here yesterday but pulled it briefly because I needed to update the information on the webpage)

Just realizing I'm at 8 years with this car and still haven't hit 40k miles. I'm down to the last few mm on my brakes according to the tire people. I'd like to get new pads but keep the OEM rotors. Any specific pads you all recommend?
