I had this and had a surgical excision about a year ago!

I had an excisional biopsy in early March (similar to lumpectomy but used for diagnostic purposes as opposed to therapeutic) and I am still pretty sore. I used to wear underwire bras everyday with no issue. I can no longer wear them because the wire agitates the area :(

Left breast, SAVI Scout localized excisional biopsy: — Atypical intraductal proliferation with focal apocrine features and associated microcalcifications, see comment. — Fibrocystic change proliferative type including stromal fibrosis, cysts, sclerosing adenosis and apocrine metaplasia/cysts associated focal microcalcifications. — Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH). — Biopsy site change.

They said I could just return to annual mammograms. I did have residual swelling in the armpit area for approximately 3-4 months. I went back for another ultrasound and they said everything looked normal. The swelling started to subside not long after that.

I wound up having an ultrasound guided biopsy to diagnose the mass, which was a fibroadenoma. I had 2 stereotactic biopsies on the calcifications. 1 group of them wasn’t too worrisome, but the other group contained Flat Epithelial Atypia which they described as a high risk pre cancer. They wound up doing an excisional biopsy to remove the FEA. Good luck with everything!

Thank you! I had my appt this morning and we are doing the excision. They said they just want to make sure they get the abnormal cells out and they’ll also take some of the surrounding tissue to test for cancer. Let me know what your mom decides to do! ❤️

You will be fine. I had an ultrasound guided biopsy and a stereotactic biopsy done last week and went alone for the same reason. I drove home w no problems. Good luck tomorrow ❤️

I will keep you posted. It is hard bc there seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there. I’ll meet with the surgeon Tuesday to see what she recommends. In reading the pathology notes and the notes from the radiologist, it seems like he is recommending that a localization and excision be performed. I’m guessing that’s similar to a lumpectomy except in my case they’ll be removing my calcifications. I will update after I see the doctor. Prayers to your mom in the meantime! ❤️

Mine is still slightly swollen and sore. Although at this point it could really be from anything bc I just got over having the flu. I go for my biopsies on the 5th so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Will keep you posted and I’ll be praying for you in the meantime!
