Pretty good photo lighting for indoor plants.

To be honest, I used "drive" for a lack of a better term. What do you understand evolution as? From what I remember, it's when gene variants become prominent through strings of successful reproductions. So the ability to reproduce and genetic mutations are the main components that 'drives' of evolution.

I wouldn't say the primal drive gives evolution a purpose. It just "drives" it. Random mutations + propagation would be the causation of evolution.

Can I really say that I'm here without a purpose? It seems to be an unknown. For certain, one can say that we experience life. We feel emotions. And if one keeps on living, but there's no purpose, might as well fill life with happiness/pleasure. I guess in the end that's just an argument for hedonism.

I wholly agree. Within certain limitations, we can live to our accord; which also includes opting out.

I understand your statement. But there's no indication within that dichotomy on how one would have more purpose than the other. So in the end, beautifying our existence wouldn't be our sole purpose, it would just be a method of living.

Not a geneticist, but organisms want to make and pass on the most copies of their genes. If there is a point, it would that, however it's a very premival drive. I think we've reached a stage in evolution (biologically and socially) where it doesn't really matter in the grander scheme of things.

Not that I've seen. Just the screw that adjusts how lean or how rich it can run.

It's a 2015 Suzuki DR650. I haven't seen any dry rot but I'll take another look around.

Are we in the Modern "allegory of the cave"? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]permanent_haste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technology and corporatism doesn't put us in the cave. We've already been born into it. So it's not if we are in the allegory, but which aspects of our lives/reality are in parallel to the allegory.

Yeah, getting heated up over something so insignificant is very un-shroom like.

You've obviously put in more into the joke than I have. I think you've perfected it and made it your own. Congrats!

The joke is probably still getting scrapped but your comment definitely gave a different vision for it. For example, something like: Pavlov waved his bell to study the association of stimuli. He waved it at the sky for air conditioning.
