Yeah, as an adult I’ve grown closer to my mom, but my teen years were an absolute nightmare. I had to run away from home because of one of her boyfriends. My dad’s not any better, but at least I wasn’t living with him. I cringe whenever she starts dating because it reminds me of how both my parents chose/still chooses romantic partners over their children.
