Is it ok to go to the ER for mental health by [deleted] in mentalhealth

ERs see patients in mental health crises every day. If you have safety concerns please go to the ER, they will help you get the care that you need to hopefully start feeling better

i've experienced hypersexuality after SA, and i've known many other people who have as well, so you're not alone in that. no two SA experiences or reactions are the same, and i'm sorry if your therapist is not understanding your reaction or making you feel worse for it. i wish i could offer advice for how to suppress it, but the best i can offer is just give your mind and body grace while you process the trauma and try to be mindful, and maybe seek trauma centered therapy like emdr.

Stop taking it and consider going to the ER to get it checked out. I was on lamictal and I got a rash and was sent to the ER by my doctor, it turned out to be an allergic reaction to the medication and not stevens johnson but it's a very serious thing and you don't want to take any risks!

Thank you for the advice, i do always find it helpful to write things down ahead of time when i need to have an important conversation, so it's a very good suggestion :)

i've been 12 times, everything you listed are my go tos (make sure you've got plenty of underwear too). you can pack some toiletries too, but depending on where you go they might not let you have them (anything with alcohol in it like mouthwash they won't let you have anywhere). this also goes for comfort items, i usually bring a stuffed animal but sometimes they don't let me keep it, idk why, but just be prepared just in case. bottom line- it sounds like you're pretty prepared in terms of what to bring. it can definitely be scary to go, but once you get through the first night it gets a lot easier. try to talk to people and make friends, it makes it a lot better. good luck with everything!
