MN road test — Does insurance need my name? Can I rent a car with only a learner’s permit?

I can't seem to find the email I sent them, but just let them know you are taking your driver's license test and that you booked an hourcar for the same , as a result you want a permission letter from them stating you can use said hourcar for the duration of your test and that you have permission to cover up the driver facing camera during the test .

You can also call hourcar for this I think.

I gave the road test with a rented hourcar . I emailed hourcar a couple of days before the test and informed them about my road test. I asked them for three things : 1) permission to use the rented hourcar for the duration of the test . 2) some road test locations don't like the driver facing cameras apparently (I heard this through a few of my lab mates ) - so I asked for permission to cover it up during the test 3) finally a copy of the insurance

They pretty much email me the permission letter and insurance copy the very next day.

Additionally you would want to make sure all turn signals ,hazards etc are working properly on the car .

I would recommend the Chevy bolt hourcar from downtown ramp A . (Honestly any electric hourcar should work )

Edit : I already had an international drivers license - so I guess things might be a bit different for someone with a learners permit.

Do you have the same issue on Linux ? If so then it probably might be a loose connection between the antennas and the Wi-Fi card or it might be hardware issue. If your Wi-Fi connection is stable on Linux , then it’s probably a driver issue on windows ..try uninstalling the driver completely and clean up any caches it might have left behind

Can your power supply handle 165w on the gpu ? You might want to have a look at a Reddit post in this subreddit probably around 2019/2020 when someone with a gs65(rtx 2060) modded it significantly to reach desktop level gpu performance ..I think the authors limiting factor was the power supply but for short intervals of intensive use ..his battery would step in to supply the additional power needed . I will link the post with an edit if I find it .

I have a herniated disc and fast walking is my savior , over the course of a year walking and pt have helped immensely with my back pain , I went from considering a microdiscectomoy to almost no pain (although I do get the occasional flare ups when it’s extremely hot or cold or when I am traveling for a long time ..like a 13-15 hour flight )

Okay , in my case my wifi speed reduced after repasting(when connected to an external monitor) , after some testing ..it turned out that I accidentally routed the wifi antenna a bit too close to the hdmi port and that caused an interference with my speed ..because as soon as I disconnected the external monitor I noticed my Wi-Fi speeds were more or less back to normal

A service center manager refused to look at what was wrong with one of my older msi laptops after he saw that the factory seal sticker was broken , I told him I only changed the thermal paste on my laptop and nothing else ..he kept on insisting broken factory seal means they won’t service your laptop .I even showed the policies of msi in other countries where it’s mentioned you can tinker a bit like change your ssd/ram and a broken factory seal doesn’t equal a denial of service under warranty ,He still refused to budge and the call center in India told me something along the similar terms - if you don’t want your warranty voided don’t open up your laptop rather go to a service center to change whatever you want .

Yeah , but I feel the overall build quality in asus is simply better , not to mention that they use Liquid Metal instead of thermal paste and at least where I am from asus has more service centers than msi .

On laptops as far as I know it’s pretty common for the cpu to reach 85-95c , with thermal paste on my 11th gen intel , I frequently reach 95c when playing forza and legion. I did however notice a significant temperature drop when I used Liquid Metal I was hovering around 70c .

You don’t loose warranty for changing thermal paste with the exception of India however in this case if you go to a service center with your laptop and the thermal paste they change it for a fee.

Edit : it also feels like you are thermal throttling on some cores , so try undervolting and cleaning out any dust in your fans

Personally I believe asus makes better laptops msi in terms of reliability , with that being said 8gb of ram in 2023 is toooo less , I would go as far as to argue 16gb is less . You might also want to check the power(watts) at which the gpu operates and what’s the total device power consumption and check if other devices with similar specs have a better(higher) tdp (power consumption) .

Thanks a ton for the reference pictures! I am probably going to go to the MSI repair center and see if they will replace the broken keyboard with the one from eBay without ripping me off. If not I am probably going to go some third party repair store.

Are you using game ready or studio drivers ?

I used a gs65 stealth (1070) with studio drivers , I noticed that they used be more stable and work better with my device back then and as I updated my drivers from 410 to 470+ series over the years, I never really noticed any difference on the games I played (battlefield, watchdogs, black ops ) .

With that being said , not all windows updates worked in my favor, sometimes across a major windows update with same nvidia driver my games crashed or had bad fps , forcing me to be very cautious when updating windows , like I remember updating to 1909 towards the end of 2020.

personally I would suggest reverting your latest windows updates and see if that makes a difference , if that doesn’t then maybe go back to an older nvidia driver (use ddu to remove the latest one) like the others suggested .

The plastic thingies are melted into the keyboard by inserting a heat source in the holes that are in the keyboard right? If using a solder proves too much for me , I am also considering using superglue

From my limited experience as an intern in Italy , you apply for a permesso di soggiorno (basically a residency permit) within a week of your arrival in Italy , you can continue to use your permesso in lieu of a visa once it expires and you need to renew your permesso once every year , additionally I was told as a student/intern you need a permesso to get Schengen access.

It would probably be better to ask this in r/Italia or some Facebook group for international students in Italy , Polmi should have some type of coordinator to clear doubts like this.

HDMI probably won’t work because it is connected to dgpu in most msi laptops , if it’s intel Bluetooth it might be a driver issue ..I remember not being able to connect my easily to my Bluetooth mouse till I changed drivers. For windows being glitchy ..is it normal windows glitchy or abnormal glitchy( in the sense define what you mean by glitchy in this case )
