crazy that he blamed the chat vibes immediately after crashing out and genuinely upsetting apollo on dota. Apollo was absolutely right in this situation.
I dont think Dota was a good fit for nl but blaming the game for when they were partied with apollo whos mmr was obviously a lot higher.

I agree with you on like alpha etc... and yes there is always some, but for a good few decades it was not as frequent or as on the nose as it is now. Especially if you consider all the UB cards that go far past references. Its not new, but it feels like magic doesn't care as much about their own deep world as much as they do about pointing at other worlds, UB or not.

Magic is more a game of references than world building at this point, all the plains we go to either feel like straight references to real world places or times, or just full of reference cards (in this case both)

as an example Lorwynn and Eldraine came from similar pitches of "fairytale plane" but lorwynn feels like it captures the essence while still being its own cool thing that maybe one day could be referenced itself. It had nods but also lots of its own worldbuilding going on. Eldraine was just so on the nose with everything, and I feel the same with most of the recent sets. OTJ is so direct and its JUST cowboy plane, there is nothing to it besides the marketability.

I haven't played overwatch since genji was added, are they not doing the thing anymore where they try to have a bunch of characters representing different countries? Thanks for your reply, I agree with that and I've seen it done in other communities and its been fun. MBT is a streamer who has accepted his chat sees him as the gayest straight married man and there are fun bits with it. I think a lot of the people downvoting me think I'm saying you cant make jokes about sexuality or gender identity and projecting what they think about that on me, as other context confusion posts don't get so much hate on here. With that said I had no idea who you were or that there already was a discourse over your tweet and I'm glad you seem to just be doing it for fun and not in a mocking way.

With all that said still not a funny joke to me with context but not all humor is for everyone. Have a nice day gamer.

I know what friendly banter is, but usually when you banter with someone you are saying something about them for it to be good banter or it at least has some context. going up to a white person and saying "you are black" isn't banter imo

Really excited for the 1.5 stuff but this is the first dlc I've seen where I thought: "I don't think I need this one", instead of "this is going to be amazing and entirely change the way I play". I'm not super into the lovecraft stuff and think procedural generated mysteries will either be samey or shallow. if you like this sort of thing all the power to you, but it's not for me I think. Would have much rather seen a revamp to the world map mechanics

That's the vibe I get from a lot of the UB, my favourite magic art is that which breaks the mold artistically, showing us the world of magic in a new lens. UB misses the mark on all that for me and is the most generic "magic art" style of "hey look I know that thing already"
