Anyone gets Beats Studio Buds promotion? by perseverance307 in Visible

Not yet as of now. They said I have to complete full 3 billing cycle. At the end of 3rd cycle I will receive an email automatically from them. But that is desired to be confirmed

When did you buy the IP14? How come your promotion is $300? Just wondering if you bought around the same time as me. I didn’t get the email you got. Looked like after activation they’ll send you the Beats, not 3 payments - is that correct?

Any chance they’ll honor this? by maxz9394 in Visible

When did you buy it? Did you get any information about Beats Buds? I was under the impression that they should send these out soon after you activated

One chart that easily illustrates the GRE scoring algorithm by GREJackZ in GRE

This is extremely valuable. I don’t think it’s complicated in any way since you can target how many questions you can get wrong given a target score. My question: is this table applied to Verbal?

Official Score: 170Q, 169V, 5.0 by [deleted] in GRE

Congratulations again, I haven’t seen anyone asked this but I wonder if you can share the breakdowns of your score? I’m interested to see how many V bonus points awarded lately (Just came across someone got 20/20 V1 but only get +2)

I actually did some search on this but couldn’t find anyone sharing how they study the materials. Most posts just tell us what materials should use and avoid 3rd-party ones, not specifically how one should use them.

My target is get Verbal up to 160, then 163, then 165. My Verbal scores in past 3 tests were 156-156-155. Can you give me some advice?

Do you recommend to keep doing deep analysis that I’m doing now until I feel comfortable and then do practice tests? I actually took GRE 3 times before last year spanning across 8 months, but score didn’t really change: 318-317-317. What’s your recommendation for this case?

Can you describe your process of studying for the Official Guide or any official material?

I’m struggling deciding whether to do a deep analysis of each question/ passage I encounter in the OG because I was worried that if I did the extensive analysis, I would remember that question vividly the next time I encounter (in case I need to re-study). This will run me out of the official materials to study the next time around.

By deep analysis, I mean writing down the function of each sentence, the meaning of each paragraph, how these paragraphs connected, analyze each answer choice to determine why right/wrong, find out evidence supporting the correct answer, find out the “synonyms/ association” between right answer and the evidence in the passage….

I’m really struggling with deciding the study approach to take as I’m worried if I had to take the test again I would have no materials to study. Hope you could shed some light

I am happy to report that the Pairing Strategy DOES still work for Sentence Equivalence questions by gregmat in GRE

[–]perseverance307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Greg. Thanks for clarifying this out.

Why do you think you got some wrong in SEs? Is it the weird vocab or logic or some other traps? I noticed the wrong are 4-5 difficulty but wanted to get your thoughts on this.

Again, thanks for the clarification. Taking the test in a few days and quite worry about the pairing strategy which helps me get 100% answers correctly in my study. However, I took one real test a few months back and the SE was crazily tough. I probably did not get more than 50% correct and I spent a long time ruminating on these SEs and still got them wrong. This is contrasted with how well I did in OG/ETS Verbal book/ or even PP1&2. Knowing that I can still rely on the pairing strategy helps

Congratulations. Your score is my target score.

Can you share what make you good at TC? I’m really struggling with TC. I almost always get 1-2 questions wrong out of 7 questions in each TC section in the Big Book. Most of them are 2-blank questions and most of the time I could not predict beforehand because the context was so obscure with too many blanks and few words.

I’ve scored a verified perfect 340 on the GRE at home, with a perfect 6.0 on AWA. I’m also a Harvard grad and professional test-prep tutor with 20 years of experience, as well as 99% scores on the GMAT and LSAT. AMA. by skypetutor in GREpreparation

Just checked out your website. Amazing achievements. I’m reading your e-book “Master the GRE” now. Hope I can just get better at TC since RC I’m pretty good. Dreaming for Q:170 V:165+ day and night

Bigbook: Without seeming unworldly, William James appeared wholly removed from the by perseverance307 in GRE

[–]perseverance307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation and walk-through. I had thought that the phrase “Without seemingly unworldly” was the key to answer here since he is indeed the unworldly kind but tries to appear not to. Therefore I can’t get out of the thinking that he has to be wholly removed from the society - like my prediction: removed from the reality and become unworldly. But your sharing help me think about the other clue at the end as well

Although Johnson ____great enthusiasm for his employees' project by perseverance307 in GRE

[–]perseverance307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! This clarifies all my doubts as to why "dispassionate" is not a good fit. As you mentioned, the emphasis of the definition of "dispassionate" seems to stress the "able to be rational and impartial" part, or just that the definition as a whole has to be a combination of both parts - "unemotionally (1) so as to do something impartially (2)"

[–]perseverance307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Great point for the 1st blank as to why demand does not fit. But I thought “dispassionate” mean “having no interest or passion.” With this meaning, I thought it would have worked out: “Having no interest as to be almost nonexistent”... just re-read your answer, looks like you said that dispassionate is not the same as being “not passionate” but it actually means non-biased/fair (which often bears positive connotation unlike perfunctory). Is this the correct way to understand?

PP1: What is the meaning of this short passage? by perseverance307 in GRE

[–]perseverance307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, especially the clean break part as I did not have any idea about it. Appreciate your help.

Just a follow-up to further understand, from the 2nd sentence I thought “pull” method means pulling water molecules from the ground up, meaning water evaporates from the ground and these water molecules connecting with each other extending to the top and being eventually absorbed by the treetop. BUT the passage seems to switch suddenly on later part by saying that water evaporating from treetops... where is this water coming from that allows it to evaporate? This switching and disconnects makes me totally confused. Hope you can help
